Hi Ken: Extremely bad weather had been forecast for the next couple of days so while the weather was fair I decided to go out into the back garden and sky watch. The sky was nice and blue and there wasn’t many clouds about so I sat down in my garden chair and began to observe the sky around me. I was looking through my binoculars when I spotted something unusual near a contrail. There was a UFO that looked just like a tadpole… It even had a tail that was flapping around behind it as it moved through the air. The surface of the UFO appeared to be metallic in nature as the sun light was reflecting off it. I was very perplexed by what I was seeing. I could not identify it as being any known type of aircraft or anything that I had ever seen before for that matter. It was very bizarre looking. I watched it for a while as it flew around the same part of the sky near the contrail like it was on some sort of fixed flight path. I then decided to take a photograph of the UFO so I put my binoculars down on the garden table and then picked up my Sony HX-300 camera and aimed it towards the UFO before I took a photograph of it. I put down my camera and then continued to observe the UFO through my binoculars once again. After about two minutes of watching the UFO it then shot off at incredible speed heading north where I unfortunately lost sight of it. I have seen a lot of UFOs around this area but I have never seen anything that looked quite like this. Why was it shaped like a tadpole? It just doesn’t make any sense… What on earth could it be? On June 27, 2006, five of our grandchildren were fishing in our pond about 3:00 p.m., when they saw a big splash on one side of the pond. Everything became still, and the pond became like glass as the object sank.
Then they saw a whirlpool in the pond about 8 to 10 feet across that moved very fast across the pond towards them. When it hit the water there was steam that went up from the object then the object disappeared to reappear in another area.
One of the children got on a boat that was at the bank, and she could see lights around the sides and the object looked like metal. Two other children said they saw the lights, but two of them said it looked yellow under the water.
Two were still watching it when they saw the water and grass around the pond next to them start to move violently, so they got scared and ran to the house. They were very disturbed by what they saw, and it took three hours before they would tell us what had happened. They range from 7 to 13 years old and all had the same story.
The next day we drove around and found truck like tracks that led towards the pond, but stopped before they got to the pond. There was a circle where the grass had been bent down in an arc shape at the edge of the pond as it splashed into the pond.
They said there was a cloud over them that was swirling. The older children thought it might be a tornado that sounded like a muffled lawn mower.
I asked the OSU Extension Agency to check for contamination. They informed me there had been two other similar incidents. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
On the day in question, two hunters were looking for deer along the woodlands of the Roaring River just outside of the town of Cassville. It was as they were doing so that one of them would notice smoke rising into the air in the distance. It didn’t take him long to realize that the smoke was rising from the area that housed their camp.
He would quickly make his way to the area to find the burnt-out remains of their tent, as well as various items of their possessions strewn about the immediate vicinity. What he immediately found odd was that the tent was placed directly under two large trees. However, neither of these trees seemingly had suffered any damage whatsoever.
This last detail, according to Booth’s notes, was due to a “narrow beam”.
Around this time, the witness noticed a “low humming” sound, as well as noticing several smaller trees that had seemingly not managed to escape the damage inflicted by whatever force was responsible for the destruction of the tent.
As he was taking in the scene, he witnessed “an unusual object” rising above the trees a short distance away from the destroyed campsite. He quickly reached for his camera and managed to snap two quick pictures. You can see one of those pictures above.
The object would quickly rise into the sky. As it did so, the humming sound grew louder, seemingly in sympathy with the object’s speed. He would estimate that within 20 seconds the object was no longer visible. As it did move out of sight, though, and again perhaps something that was in sympathy with its speed, the witness would notice a “band of color around the center of the object”.
Once the object was out of sight, the witness would document the carnage left behind at the campsite area. He would later estimate that the object was approximately 25 feet wide and appeared over the trees at an approximate distance of around 300 feet.
Two experienced airline pilots on separate flights saw something up to a mile wide off the coast of Alderney on Monday afternoon. Surprisingly, Jersey radar equipment did not pick up the object, although an air traffic controller said he had received simultaneous reports from the Aurigny and Blue Islands pilots. Aurigny’s Captain Ray Bowyer, 50, said he saw the strange object during a flight from Southampton. He spotted a bright-yellow light 10 miles west of Alderney while his plane was about 30 miles from the island and at 4,000ft. “It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area. It was 2,000ft up and stationary,” he said. “I thought it was about 10 miles away, although I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I thought it was the size of a 737.” A 737 is slightly smaller than a jumbo jet. “But it must have been much bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a mile wide.” As he continued his approach to Alderney, Capt. Bowyer saw a second identical object further to the west. “It was exactly the same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to Guernsey.” The sightings come days after reports that scientists have discovered outside our solar system an Earth-like planet capable of supporting extraterrestrial life. “I can’t explain it. At first, I thought it might have been a reflection from a vinery in Guernsey, but that would have disappeared quickly. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes.” The sightings happened at about 3pm. Capt. Bowyer, who has flown commercial planes for about 20 years, said he had described the objects to air traffic control and filled in an incident report. “As I got closer to it, it became clear to me that it was tangible. I was in two minds about going towards it to have a closer look but decided against it because of the size of it. I had to think of the safety of the passengers first.”
He added that the experience had been quite scary. “I”m certainly not saying that it was something of another world. All I”m saying is that I have never seen anything like it before in all my years of flying.” Paul Kelly, 31, the air traffic controller who was on duty, said the Blue Islands pilot had made a similar report, but nothing had appeared on his radar. “The pilot from Blue Islands was en route to Jersey at the same time and as he went past Sark he described an object behind him to his left,” he said. “The description was very similar to Captain Bowyer’s and they described it as being in exactly the same place. But they were looking at it from opposite sides.” The pilot told him the object had been 1,500ft beneath his plane. The Blue Islands plane was at 3,500ft at the time so, again, both pilots placed it at the same altitude. “If the object was stationary, our equipment would not have picked it up because the radar would have screened it out.” NOTE: The above image is real but from another sighting case.

With my eyes it was first seen as a small, shiny, white dot. I got my camera out and tried to zoom in and couldn’t find it.
Then I saw the shining again and zoomed in and started recording, and it was dark again and then shiny again, and then dark again, before it was blocked by a tree and I couldn’t find it again, about 16 seconds of video.
It was just above the mountains and when I was recording it, it seemed to be moving south. When I watched it on the TV and on computer it appeared to stay in the same place above the same cloud feature. We were on Modoc Rd. headed towards Medford, Oregon, and it was east of us towards Eagle Point or White City.
I thought maybe it would turn out to be a plane when I watched it on the TV screen, but I still couldn’t tell what it was exactly.
The truck was bouncing me around and it was hard to keep it on the object and we couldn’t pull over because we were working. My husband was with me but he was driving and couldn’t see it.
There were no airplanes or helicopters in the area. It was a cloudy day, but no rain. There were no electromagnetic effects, missing time, or smells associated with the sighting.
In the wake of reports of unidentified objects flying over Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, a retired Air Force pilot has his own mystery with a rash of bright, colorful lights he photographed hovering in skies over western Arkansas last week.
“I believe these lights were not of this world, and I feel a duty and responsibility to come forward,” Col. Brian Fields told WND. “I have no idea what they were.”
Fields, 61, was cooking chicken at his Van Buren, Ark., home Jan. 9 when just before 7 p.m., he observed two intensely bright lights as he looked to the southeast close to the horizon.
“At first I thought they were landing lights from an aircraft,” he said. “As I continued to observe them they began to slowly disappear, then suddenly one reappeared, followed by two, then three. On at least one occasion four or five appeared. Each time they would slowly fade and eventually disappear. This occurred several times and when they would reappear they might do so in differing numbers and in different positions, sometimes in a triangular shape, sometimes stacked on top of each other, sometimes line abreast, etc. When the objects appeared they might stay illuminated 10 or more minutes.”
Fields’ wife thought the lights may have been ground-based, but Fields says he’s certain they were airborne. The retired colonel spent close to 32 years in the military, flying F-16s as a member of the 188th Fighter Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard.
“I’m certain it wasn’t an aircraft [from Earth],” said Fields, who also ruled out the possibility of flares, saying they didn’t descend like flares typically do. “It’s not anything I ever had any experience with . … They were some kind of energy or something.”
Fields grabbed his Canon digital camera with 6 megapixel resolution to document what he and his wife were witnessing, and snapped numerous images of the mysterious lights.
He says the phenomenon lasted an hour and 15 minutes, and local news agencies have not published or broadcast any reports of what the couple witnessed. WND surveyed local police and sheriffs agencies, as well as Fort Chaffee, a decommissioned Army base in the region, and no one reported anything out of the ordinary.
“I just can’t imagine other people didn’t see it,” Fields said, noting they appeared at times like a yo-yo at 5 to 10 degrees above the horizon.
Earlier this month, the Chicago Tribune reported workers for United Air Lines said they saw a flying saucerlike object hovering “low over O’Hare International Airport for several minutes before bolting through thick clouds with such intense energy that it left an eerie hole in overcast skies.”
That Nov. 7 sighting took place just before sunset about 4:30 p.m.
According to Tribune columnist Jon Hilkevitch, “All the witnesses said the object was dark gray and well defined in the overcast skies. They said the craft, estimated by different accounts to be 6 feet to 24 feet in diameter, did not display any lights.
“Some said it looked like a rotating Frisbee, while others said it did not appear to be spinning. All agreed the object made no noise and it was at a fixed position in the sky, just below the 1,900-foot cloud deck, until shooting off into the clouds.”
The mobile home of James Richards sat on the absolute outskirts of the city of Columbia in the state of Missouri. Not only that, but the home itself was at the end of dead-end footpath around 1000 feet from the nearest main road. All around this quiet and extremely humble abode were “scattered trees” aside from a small front yard. To say that Richards and his 16-year-old daughter, Vanea, as well as Jamie, her 3-year-old son were cut off from the vast majority of the community was an understatement.
Incidentally, the nearest property to Mr. Richards’ mobile home was a small house, lived in by an elderly lady. She was, however, “asleep at the time of the observation”.
On this particular evening, at a little past midnight on 28th June 1973, Vanea was making her way to the north side of the mobile home, to the fridge so that she could place a baby bottle there. Although there was music filling the home from the record player which was spinning the vinyl disc around and around on its turntable, the open window allowed the sudden noise from outside to be heard easily.
Vanea would later describe the noise as a “thrashing” sound and it appeared to emanate from the trees around the side of the mobile home. The more she listened, now all but blocking out the record player, she could make out what appeared to be the sound of something “moving a large tree” outside.
She would remain where she was for a few more moments, listening intently to the mysterious and unnerving activity taking place outside. Then, as loudly as she could without alerting whoever, or whatever was outside, she would call out to her father.
Two Bright, Silver-White Beams Appear Out Of Nowhere!
Richards could hear his daughter call from the kitchen area of the mobile home as he sat in the living room with Jamie. Because of the hour and the fact that he himself was feeling sluggish and tired, he was rather slow in getting in out of the living room chair and up to the window where Vanea was calling him from.
By the time he had arrived at where his daughter was, she was moving with great pace from the outside screen door to the front door, locking both of them as quickly as she could. He would make his way to the kitchen window, now with a little more urgency than before. His daughter joined him a moment or two later, now satisfied that the doors were as secure as they could be.
As they both stared out into the darkness of the summer’s night, “two beams of light” suddenly became visible. They appeared to be between the trees and the nearby fence. Richards would guess they were approximately 50 feet from the kitchen window they were viewing them from and had a “tapered” look to them, with the wider section at the top.
He would further estimate the beams were around five feet apart, and remained this distance., suggesting they emanated from the same solid source overhead. Furthermore, they had a “bright, silver-white” color to them. However, try as he did, he could see no solid form “above or behind the beams”.
Then, they just disappeared as suddenly as they had appeared. It was then that both Richards and his daughter could see the “bright oval form” in their place.
The Woodland “Lit Up As Bright As Day!”
The father and daughter remained where they were at the kitchen window, both fascinated and alarmed at the scene and scenario unfolding before them.
They would later estimate that the “glowing form” was around 15 feet across and appeared to be only mere feet from the ground. So bright was the object that the pair had difficulty in keeping their sight on it, with Richards even having to look away at one point. Such was the brightness, that other than the silver glow, no other details of the exterior could be seen. Furthermore, because of this brightness, the area immediately outside the mobile home was “lit up bright as day”.
In this artificial daylight, the pair could see the trees moving as if a sudden strong wind had come out of nowhere unleashing its carnage on the area. However, more than that, it appeared that some trees were being manipulated in different ways than others, with Vanea even witnessing one tree being pulled toward the ground.
All the while, however, the only sound that reached them was that which initially caught Vanea’s attention, the strange thrashing noise. No other sounds or noises whatsoever came from the active scene outside, which must have given the scene an even more surreal feel.
Then, the thrashing sound stopped, although the trees continued to move. A moment later, a loud “cracking” sound rang out quickly followed by the bizarre movement of the trees also stopping. Although they didn’t know it at the time, or at least were not certain of it, investigation of the area the following day would show a large, heavy branch had been snapped off at a height of almost 20 feet.
A “Real Bright” Center With Duller, Fuzzy Edges!
Following this burst of activity, a deafening silence would suddenly envelop the mobile home, even seeming to leak into the building itself making the father and daughter feel more than uneasy. It was during these unsettling moments that Richards realized their dogs – who would normally bark at anything that moved outside the house – were completely still and silent. As he went from window to window of the mobile home surveying the area outside, he noticed them almost hiding away from whatever had been taking place only moments ago.
It was then that he went to his bedroom to retrieve his guns. He quickly returned into the kitchen area, the weapons and ammunition in his arms. He would load the guns and then place them on top of the freezer unit and out of the reach of anyone other than he and his daughter.
When he returned to the kitchen window where his daughter remained, watching the scene outside, he could see that the glowing craft remained hovering at a distance of around 50 feet from their home, although the brightness lit up a radius of around double that.
Although they could still make out no real detail of the craft other than it was oval-shaped and a “silver-white or aluminum” color, Richards would recall that the middle of it was “real, real bright” while the edges were decidedly duller. Vanea, similarly, would recall that edges of the object were somewhat “fuzzy”.
The pair remained at the kitchen window, nervous about what might happen next but not wishing to take their eyes from the situation for even a moment. After several more moments, however, Richards made the decision it was time to call for help.
Contact “The Police, The FBI” Or Anyone Who Can Help Me!
Whether by coincidence or not, almost in sympathy with his actions the object suddenly moved and changed its position. It would now take up temporary residence in the sky over a nearby field, approximately 200 feet from the mobile home.
Because there was not more distance between the craft and their location, the pair could now make out a lot more detail than they could previously. For example, the craft was a bright silver-white in the middle while at the edge was a “blue band of light”. Furthermore, an “orange glow extended around the outer edge”.
Richards and his daughter watched the craft return to its original position, describing the movement of it as “smooth and slow”. Shortly after this, he would reach for the phone and dial 113 for directory assistance.
The lady who took the call – identified as “Mrs. AB” would claim that Richards was “very excited and seemed to be frightened” although he was clear in describing the event. He would also request that she contact “the police, the FBI, or anyone who could help him!”
She would manage to calm him somewhat and assure him that she would contact an operator who would call him back. Several moments later, a “Mrs. P” called back and spoke with Richards for several minutes. During this exchange, the lights in the mobile home dimmed several times. This, of course, is a detail that often surfaces in close encounter experiences. Usually, however, these types of encounters occur while people are in their vehicles and experience their car’s cutting out without warning.
On Mrs. P’s instructions, he would hang the phone up, return to the window, and await the return call.
An Obviously Frightened But Sincere Witness!
While this was taking place, Mrs. P would contact Mrs. L, who would in turn attempt to call Richards. However, when she did, she would hear nothing other than a “deadline”. She would try the number five times, even calling Mrs. P back in between to check that the number she had was correct.
During this time, Richards himself began to worry that no one had contacted him back. So much so, that he picked up the receiver. Bizarrely, and adding even more to the strangeness of the situation, after the line appeared dead, he suddenly heard Mrs. M.
He would then relay the evening’s happenings to the operator, stating at this stage that he was decidedly frightened for his children.
For her part, Mrs. M would recall that Richards would repeat his story again and again. He would occasionally pause and shout out to his daughter, asking if the strange object was still outside.
Before long, Richards was transferred to Mrs. S at the Flight Service Station at Columbia Regional Airport.
Mrs. S would ultimately assure Richards that she would contact the police and report the sighting for him. She would also inform him that she had knowledge of another sighting on the 24th June – only two weeks earlier – we will examine that incident later.
Shortly after the exchange, the pair would hang up.
A moment or two later, the object began to approach the mobile home once again.
A Last Visual Stand-Off!
Richards and Vanea watched the object approach, watching with a rising sense of fear intoxicating each of them. Richards would later describe a “cold feeling” overtaking him and the feeling of something imminent and dire about to take place. He would state that he “just froze” and had no idea what to do.
Even more, the distinct feeling that he, his daughter, and grandson were on their own in their out-of-the-way mobile home wouldn’t leave him. Nor would the insistence that all three of them would not for any reason step outside.
As each of them remained at the window the object moved again, seemingly negotiating the trees as it did so. It would eventually settle into a position around 50 feet from their location. Both Richards and his daughter all the while remained where they were at the window, watching the strange, hovering, glowing object not daring to take their eyes from it.
This visual stand-off continued for several minutes (although neither witness was completely sure just how long this was for). Then, the craft went into motion yet again. Once more, it went through the trees with a “smooth, slow motion”, although Richards recalls that during this particular burst of movement, the surrounding trees appeared undisturbed.
The craft once more would stop at a distance of around 200 feet from the Richards’ mobile home. As before, from this distance, the blue-orange glow of the outer edges of the vehicle were visible while the solid silver glow of the center section was now more defined. The object then appeared to fade away, although not into the distance (no trees appeared disturbed, for example) but as though it was literally fading from view.
Within several minutes, the object was no longer visible.
A Wealth Of Outlandish Possibilities That Must Be Considered!
This last detail is of interest to UFO researchers as there appears to be many cases where what appears to be a solid craft disappears. However, not shooting off into the distance at great speed but by seemingly fading away from existence, as if someone turned down a dimmer switch or flicked off a light bulb. Description (in witness’s own words with some editing): While serving aboard the U.S.S. Lexington CVS-16 (aircraft carrier), I was an elevator operator for aircraft. One night around 12 midnight I saw a large orange glow in the sky. I called flight deck control. They said they had it on radar and tried to get it to identify itself. When they got no reply, they sent 2 F4 jets up. You could see their afterburners and the F4s did not even come close to catching it. The object (light) took off out of sight. As soon as the jets returned, it came back. This pattern repeated itself 3 times. After the 3rd time, guess they thought it was no threat. It followed us for about half hr [a half hour] I guess then left. We were told the next day to say nothing about the sightings. I wish I had at least written down time/day/year, but did not. Even years after I did not know who to report it to. Then as time elapsed more, I figured no one would believe me. I just thought that I would report it as I remembered it. We were operating in the Gulf of Mexico out of Pensacola, FL. I worked the hanger [sic] deck elevator. I was in the V3 division/aircraft handlers.
Investigator’s Notes: I have mailed the witness a list of additional questions and asked for some clarifications of his experience. I received a response to my follow-up questions. The witness confirmed that his tenure in the Navy was from 1962 to 1966 and that he does not remember the year of the sighting. I was hopeful that the witness may be able to reach other personnel who were privy to the sighting. However, he said that he was not in touch with any of his fellow servicemen who experienced the sighting. The witness also further stated that no nuclear weapons were on the U.S.S. Lexington at the time of the sighting. He stated that F4 Phantom aircraft were scrambled after the UFO. He was uncertain as to the location of the ship when the UFO was sighted. He did say that the event occurred in the Gulf of Mexico several hundred miles from the Pensacola, Florida Naval Air Station. Apparently he was debriefed by petty officers after the sighting and at that time was told not to say anything about the sighting. Having testimony from other crew members who were privy to the sighting would greatly strengthen the case. I plan to look through documents released through the Freedom of Information Act to see if the U.S. Navy acknowledged that this incident occurred. This sighting is interesting because it apparently involved both radar and visual sightings. Other reports of UFOs following ships have been reported. (Many of these ships were carrying nuclear weapons.) NOTE: The above image is real but from another sighting.
It was 46 years ago this month, but I remember it like it was yesterday. My friend and I were driving to her house around 6:00pm when I casually looked out the window up at the sky and I saw some kind of rapidly dropping light, which fell and disappeared, similar to a shooting star. I dismissed it as that, until I looked out again a few minutes later and saw what I assume was the same light moving in odd directions, very fast. It would appear, zip vertically for a second then disappear again, only to reappear elsewhere in the sky, dart up diagonally, then disappear again. This happened probably about 4 times, then stopped, I didn’t see it after that. That is until we got to my friend’s house and stepped out of the car. Above her house (which was a large, five-bedroom, two level ranch home), approximately 1000 feet from the ground, was an enormous, disc shaped craft, dull silver-gray metallic, still and silent, with a smaller solid dome on top and a smaller disc shaped area underneath, lighted all around with alternately yellowish lights and portholes. The craft was larger than her house, so I estimate it to be approximately 300 feet in diameter. We stood there speechless looking at this thing, and I remember a combination of astonishment and curiosity, but strangely, no fear. My friend’s Dad came to the front door – as I guess he saw us just standing there looking up – and we screamed to him to come outside and look at this UFO above his house. My friend’s sister came out to see it, so there were three of us who witnessed it, but my friend’s Dad just laughed at us inside the doorway, walked away, and never came out. The craft proceeded to move horizontally very slowly toward the back yard, and it had a red transparent beam moving in sync with it, scanning the creek behind my friend’s house.
They were studying/scanning the creek, we could see the end of the beam in the water. After it passed the creek, it proceeded to move at the same slow rate of speed down her street, toward a private farm which had an open pasture (we called it Brown’s dairy farm). We got back in the car and followed until we reached a stop sign near the farm and could go no further, but we could still see the craft above but close to the trees. It silently stopped over the pasture, then revved up its “engine” which started as a rumble then sounded like three airplanes starting at the same time, but there were no flames, just extremely loud noise, and took off diagonally so fast, it was gone from sight in approximately 5 seconds. And that was it, we never saw it again. I went home, got out my binoculars, and sat outside until about 1:00am looking for it, but I never saw it again. I checked the newspaper after that to see if it was reported, but couldn’t find anything. Warwick is home to an airport, perhaps that’s why. I know what I saw, I still wonder what they were looking for in the creek. What still boggles my mind to this day is how an object that large could be completely silent, even when it started moving (until it took off). I will never forget that as long as I live.
