Description (In Witness’s Own Words): For some reason I’ve been thinking about this lately. In about 1957 my dad had bought a “cree coach” (camper) to take the family on vacation and go prospecting in. He decided to take us on a short trip into the Tooele desert in Utah. Back then, there weren’t very many roads and it seems like we just drove out dirt roads and into the desert. I was about 6 years old. I remember this trip because two things happened that were pretty memorable. One was that a small herd of wild horses came near our truck in the early morning and I heard my sisters sneaking out of bed because they thought they could catch one with a jump rope of my sister’s. The other thing was this bright light that woke us all up in the middle of the night. I’ve gone over this with my siblings to try to figure out how all this came about, but there were four of us and this wasn’t a cabover camper. Somehow my folks were sleeping in the cab and we four children were in the camper part that had a table that made into a bed. After everyone was asleep, a really bright light that flooded the camper woke us all up. I remember complaining and my sister asking what it was. We were all pretty noisy. My mom heard the commotion and asked us what was going on (like she didn’t see it). We told her there was a bright light and after a few seconds she ordered us to lay down and shut our eyes and go back to sleep. I didn’t hear my dad’s voice and wondered how he slept through it. In 1976 my mother (who was a banker and very conservative) told us that she had seen a UFO hovering in the field that night. She had never mentioned it before and we were shocked that she kept the secret so long. She said it wasn’t very big. I think she said about 25 feet. Recently, when I asked my sisters about getting up to go try and catch the horses, they didn’t remember it.
Second Report by Witness: The witness has stated that she had dreams of encounters with strange beings and a flying saucer up to one year ago.
Investigator’s Notes: Normally I don’t post old cases, but this case sounds very intriguing and probably involved a close encounter with an unknown aerial object. The experience clearly has affected the witness considering that she remembers it 50 years later. In a second report the witness stated that she had dreams involving strange beings and a flying saucer for several years. Could this be indicative of her 1957 experience? It is also worthy to note that the encounter happened near an Army Depot. (See map above.) The witness is contacting her mother and other siblings who were at the campsite in 1957 to see if they remember the experience. Any updates will be posted.
