Perhaps also of interest and worth mentioning here are the sightings involving the USS Tacoma and the USS Welch. These would unfold in the early hours of 17th February off the coast of New Orleans during Mardi Gras season. On this particular morning, at around 4 am, a “strange light” suddenly approached the two ships’ positions out of the west.
The lights, white at first, would change to an amber glow as it moved along the sky. Then, it simply disappeared as though it had gone out. Not only is the changing of the colored glow of these strange aerial objects, seemingly in sympathy with its motion something that is seen in many other UFO reports, the perception that rather than vanishing into the distance the object simply “went out” is one that also comes up more than we might think.
The American South Has A Long History Of Strange Goings-On
Whatever was hovering and “zipping” through the skies over Mississippi, and its southern neighbor, Louisiana, throughout the opening weeks of 1977, multiple people were witness to the events. That something strange was overhead during this time, then, is as good as established fact. What that “something” might have been, however, like many other cases, is a mystery within a mystery.
As are, of course, most of the sightings across the United States and around the world. Very distinct UFO waves and patterns have already been well-established and investigated over the years. One can’t help but feel the more sightings face examination, though, however trivial and pedestrian some of them may be, will exhibit eventual overriding patterns of behavior and ultimately, clues to the UFO and alien question will emerge.
We might take note, for example, that both Mississippi and Louisiana revolve around significant bodies of water. A location detail that surfaces more than most might suspect. Furthermore, both states have a rich history of strange happenings. And even longer histories of legends from the indigenous peoples of the area dating back thousands of years.
In fact, the American South, in general, including other states such as Arkansas and Alabama – which will no doubt be the subjects of future examinations, is full of stories of mysterious goings-on. No doubt, as we move closer to fully understanding these strange aerial crafts and the apparent intelligence behind them, these mysteries will clear somewhat also. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
One of the first reported sightings of the 1977 Louisiana mini-wave was that of Mr. and Mrs. Digangi, who while driving along Judge Perez Highway on the evening of the 15th January witnessed “three lights chained together”. Mr. Digangi would estimate they were at an altitude of around 5oo feet. Three days later, the couples’ teenage daughter witnessed the same object outside their home.
Three days following the Digangis’ daughter’s sighting, along the waters of the bayou, Irwin Menesses and Robert Melerine were guiding their boat close to the riverbank when a sudden and bright light descended toward them out of nowhere. It would stop just short of 50 feet above them.
At the same time, the boat appeared strangely stalled in the water. The engine was working as it should, but the boat refused to cut through the water and instead simply churned water. Even stranger, both men felt a strange paralysis come over them. In a bizarre detail that mirrors other similar paralysis accounts, they retained the ability to breathe and speak but had seemingly lost all control over all other muscles. As soon as the object moved away, both they and the boat came back to life.
Perhaps even more interesting about this particular sighting is the fact that the object would then move around the oil refineries and water towers of the area. Almost as if surveying them.
More Louisiana Reports With Similarities To The Mississippi Wave
The evening following the bizarre encounter on the bayou, two brothers, Mark, and Damian Boudreaux were standing on the porch outside Mark’s house when they suddenly noticed a “reddish-orange light” moving in the skies toward the west. It would then stop, hover momentarily before changing direction and moving off again.
On the same evening, three children and three adults driving along the highway witnessed a “dome-shaped craft with red and yellow lights” moving through the sky. After several minutes of calm, “bounding” movement, the object suddenly changed direction sharply and vanished. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
On the evening of 6th January 1977 at a convenience store in Yazoo City, the witness, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed a friend of hers suddenly burst in claiming they had just been pulled over by the police. However, when asked the reason, the friend claimed the patrolman had seen a UFO and wanted the motorist as a corroborative witness to the events.
Intrigued by the claims, the witness and her boyfriend would drive out to the location. However, when they arrived nothing out of the ordinary was taking place. They would instead drive to the lake and park by the waterside.
Not long after, however, the inside of the vehicle would suddenly light up. When the pair looked out of the back window, they could see two strange objects “each the size of 3 Cadillacs”. The witness would further describe them as “oval and dark” but with “amber lights around the base”. She would estimate they were approximately 30 feet above the ground.
The two objects remained in their positions for around 10 minutes before suddenly, but calmly, moving over their vehicle and into the distance. One of them “zipped off” out of sight in a matter of seconds. The other, however, appeared to land in a nearby field. When the pair went to investigate, though, there was nothing there.
A similar incident to the apparently discreet wave of sightings throughout Mississippi occurred several years earlier. However, its location and the details of the incident are indeed of interest to us here. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
The wife of a Dallas attorney and a recruiting officer at the Naval Air Station Friday reported seeing flying saucers Thursday — one in Dallas County, the other twenty miles northeast of Denton in Grayson County.
Capt. M. A. Nation, NAS commander, said the phenomenon was the
second observed at the air base in ten days.
Reports are being sent to Washington in both instances, he said.
Mrs. Margie Benavides of Grand Prairie, wife of Dallas Atty. Robert
Benavides, reported that she and six other persons on a Denton-bound
bus saw what appeared to be a flying saucer near Tioga.
Bus Driver E. B. Owens, 37, of Denison, confirmed Mrs. Benavides’
story in a telephone report to The News. He set the time at about
6:10 p.m. and said he and the passengers watched the object for
about twenty minutes.
Six and a half hours earlier, at 11:28 a.m., Chief Petty Officer
Charley Lewis, 56, saw a disk streak at a B-36 bomber, follow under
it for a second or two, then break away at a 45-degree angle.
The disk, he said, was oblong and flat and hurtled through the air
at an incredible speed. After leaving the B-36, he said, it shot
straight up into the air and disappeared in less than five seconds.
Convair B-36 Peacemaker Bomber
“I guess the whole thing took no more than fifteen seconds,” he
declared. “I’ve been in aviation for eighteen years and I’ve never
seen anything like it. I don’t mind telling you it shook me
Lewis said his brother-in-law, Jack Lawler, an ex-Air Force major
from LaPorte, and Mrs. W. B. Webb, heard him shout and looked up in
time to see the object.
Lewis said he immediately reported the incident to his superior
He said the disk appeared to be about twenty to twenty-five feet
in diameter. Its height, when he first observed it, appeared
between 10,000 and 15,000 feet
“I just stepped out of my car and heard the B-36. When I looked up,
I saw a very bright object racing at it at an incredible speed. It
got under the bomber and seemed to hang there for a couple of
seconds or so. Its color by then looked cream or light tan,” he
Captain Nation said that C. E. Edmundson, a tower control operator,
saw a similar object March 7.
“He estimated its speed at 3,000 to 4,000 miles an hour,” Captain
Nation said. “Of course, that’s a pure estimate. He had no
instruments to compute its speed.”
Mrs Robert Benavides sketches the action of a flying disk
which she says she saw Thursday near Tioga, Grayson County.
It looked flat and rocked along slowly when she first saw it.
Then it turned up on its side, shot straight up into the air
and leveled off thirty seconds later and streaked south.
Mrs. Benavides said the disk she saw had the same general
proportions as the lid from a baking powder can.
When I first saw it, it was just loafing along. The thin side
showed and it looked like a straight line. It didn’t do too much
moving for several minutes. Then it turned up on its side and
became almost round. When it did, it shot straight up in the air at
a terrific speed. After it climbed for about thirty seconds, it
leveled off and got flat again. It streaked off toward the south,
and it had a tail like a comet.”
Mrs. Benavides said she had no way of knowing how big the object
was, or how far away.
“It looked like it might be hundreds of miles off. To the eye it
looked about four inches in diameter. But if it was as far off as
I think, it was a tremendous thing.”
She said the only person on the bus that said he didn’t see the
object was a bespectacled man who had been drinking.
“His glasses were so thick and he was so full that he couldn’t have
seen it if it had been across the road from him.”
Owens said the object, when its narrow side showed, seemed somewhat
thicker in the front than in the tail. He estimated it was about
ten miles away and said that to his eye it looked about the size of
an auto tire.
“If it was ten miles away, it had to be pretty big to look the size
of a tire,” he said.
He said that he had observed the object for about five minutes
before he called it to the attention of his passengers.
Both Owens and Mrs. Benavides said the object, silver-colored at
first, turned golden with the sun’s rays as it streaked across the
All of the witnesses reached by The News said that there was no
possibility that the object could be a plane or a weather
“I’ve been In aviation ever since I was a kid,” said Lewis, “and
I’ve never seen anvthing like it. It was smooth; there were no
wings or projections from it, and it couldn’t have been a jet
or rocket ship because there was no fire.”
Captain Nation said there were no jet planes in the area during any
of the times the disks were reported.
And at Love Field Weather Bureau, Weatherman A. M. Hamrick said no
observation balloons were in the air at the time.
Each of the three witnesses said the object made no sound.
Since the first disks were observed shortly after the close of
World War II, there has been no official explanation of them.
They have been variously described as reflections of buildings in
the sky, reflections of airplanes,, Russian secret weapons, and
more generally — figments of the imagination.
Recently Com. Robert B. McLaughlin, guided missies expert and skipper of a Navy destroyer, said he was convinced that the disks were actually space ships from another planet. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
Former US Navy pilot David Fravor has revealed a previously undisclosed UFO incident from the 1990s. By now the story of the ‘Tic Tac’ UFO spotted by fighter pilots during training exercises off the coast of San Diego in 2004 is well known, with footage reportedly recorded during the incident being declared authentic by US Navy officials as recently as last month.
What isn’t so well documented however is another incident that happened a few years beforehand.
In a recent radio interview, former US Navy pilot Commander David Fravor described an encounter experienced by another pilot who was tasked with retrieving BQM aerial target drones and submarine telemetry torpedoes from the water.
The pilot reported a “kind of dark mass coming up from the depths” which quickly disappeared.
“As they hoist the BQM up, he’s looking at this thing going, ‘What the hell is that?'” said Fravor. “And then it just goes back down underwater. Once they pull the kid and the BQM out of the water, this object descends back into the depths.”
According to Fravor, another very similar incident happened a few months later.
“He’s out picking up a torpedo, they hook the diver up on the winch, and as they’re lowering him down, he sees this big mass,” said Fravor. “He goes, ‘It’s not a submarine’. He’s seen submarines before. Once you’ve seen a submarine you can’t confuse it with something else. “
“This big object, kind of circular, is coming up from the depths and he starts screaming through the intercom system to tell them to pull the diver up, and the diver’s only a few feet from the water.”
“They reverse the winch and the diver’s thinking, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And all of a sudden he said the torpedo just got sucked down underwater, and the object just descended back down into the depths.
Retired US Navy pilot commander David Fravor first came forward in a bombshell New York Times article in December 2017, describing how his squadron witnessed a 747-sized object just under the surface of the water during training exercises in the Pacific Ocean, 160km off the coast of San Diego.
Hovering just over the surface of the water above the submerged object was a 12-metre-long “Tic Tac-looking object” moving erratically “forward, back, left, right”. Cdr Fravor attempted to intercept the object, but it shot away at incredible speed.
On a subsequent flight, another member of his squadron managed to film one of the objects using the plane’s infra-red targeting camera after its radar systems were jammed — which Cdr Fravor noted was “technically an act of war”.
The now-famous footage was acquired by former Pentagon official Luis Elizondo and released along with two other videos by To The Stars Academy, a UFO research organisation founded by Blink-182 rocker Tom DeLonge.
The circumstances around the release of the footage has been the subject of intense controversy over the past two years, but the US Navy last month confirmed for the first time that it considered the “phenomena” depicted in the three videos “unidentified”.
Appearing on the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast on Saturday in his first major interview since the Navy’s official acknowledgment of the videos, Cdr Fravor discussed his sighting and also revealed how other pilots had “come out of the woodwork” to tell him their own encounters.
“They don’t feel alone,” he said. “One of the guys was a Navy helicopter pilot. He was flying a CH-53, a big heavy-lifter the Marine Corps uses for certain things. Off the East Coast they do a lot of shooting, at the time it was off Puerto Rico.”
Cdr Fravor said the helicopter pilot’s job at the time of the incident in the “mid to late ’90s” included retrieving BQM aerial target drones, which deploy a parachute and fall into the ocean, as well as submarine telemetry torpedoes that collect data before blowing ballast and floating to the surface.
“The helo drops a swimmer in the water, he hooks the whole thing up and they fly back. The first time they were out and they were going to pick up a BQM, he’s sitting in the front — in the CH-53 you can see down by your feet — and as he’s looking down, they’re 50 feet (15 metres) above the water, he sees this kind of dark mass coming up from the depths,” he said.
“As they hoist the BQM up, he’s looking at this thing going, ‘What the hell is that?’ And then it just goes back down underwater. Once they pull the kid and the BQM out of the water, this object descends back into the depths.”
The pilot thought the incident was “pretty weird”, according to Cdr Fravor. Then a few months later, it happened again. “He’s out picking up a torpedo, they hook the diver up on the winch, and as they’re lowering him down, he sees this big mass,” he said.
“He goes, ‘It’s not a submarine’. He’s seen submarines before. Once you’ve seen a submarine you can’t confuse it with something else. This big object, kind of circular, is coming up from the depths and he starts screaming through the intercom system to tell them to pull the diver up, and the diver’s only a few feet from the water.”
He continued, “They reverse the winch and the diver’s thinking, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And all of a sudden he said the torpedo just got sucked down underwater, and the object just descended back down into the depths. They never recovered it.”
Cdr Fravor said the helicopter pilot was adamant the torpedo “didn’t sink” but “literally looked like it got sucked down”. He said the pilot spoke to The New York Times about the incident ahead of the 2017 story but “they wanted something newer”.
Cdr Fravor marvelled at the technology displayed by the objects, up to a dozen of which had been tracked by the USS Princeton’s radar systems in the week prior to his squadron’s sighting.
“They would come down from above 80,000 feet (24,380 metres), drop down to about 20,000 feet (6100 metres). They’d hang out then go straight back up after about three or four hours,” he said.
“Just think of the physics — 80,000 feet is where you can start to see the curvature of the Earth. It’s considered space, they’re coming from above that. (Elon Musk’s) SpaceX is really excited because they can launch a rocket, have a booster come back to Earth and actually land on a pad. It’s a very impressive engineering feat. Next to this technology, that’s like a Model T next to a Porsche.”
Cdr Fravor said he was speculating but suspected the objects were somehow “manipulating the gravity field and just moving through a void”. “You could in theory fly, go into the ocean, cruise around, pop back up, fly around, go to space. You remove the barriers of the normal propulsion we have today,” he said.
Last week, Mr Elizondo claimed that TTSA had obtained physical evidence that could be from UFOs. “Our company over the last year and a half has actually obtained quite a bit of material,” he told Fox News. “Some of that material — its providence is frankly hearsay, while other providence of some of this material has been substantiated.” NOTE: The above image is CGI.
While filming a giant pumpkin drop into an inflatable pool filled with water at an annual Harvest Festival, we noticed, after reviewing the video, that an unusual disk-shaped object flew past us seconds after the splash caused by the pumpkin drop. Some who have seen the video think it is a chunk of the pumpkin, a water drop or a bird however, the linear and ascending path of the object seems to contradict such claims. Furthermore, looking at the object frame-by-frame, it seems to be transparent and round/disc-shaped. The video submitted is slowed down as, at regular speed, the object flies by so fast, it is barely noticed. KENS NOTE: Debunkers are the idiots of the third kind. How could this be a chunk of the pumpkin or a bird flying hundreds of miles per hour. You never see them prove their absurd theories because they can’t.

I spotted a UFO over I-95S as I was passing near Exit 2 for Trenton headed towards the Delaware River cross over to PA. I had a sighting that was very different in Australia in 2005 and have kept my eyes on the sky ever since. I was looking up at local plane traffic that was well above the cloud cover when I noticed something sitting still, hovering beneath the cloud cover, far lower than the plane traffic directly overhead. It looked the approximate size and shape of the tic-tac UFOs described by Commander Fravor on the Nimitz in 2004, 40 ft in length maybe, about 20ft high, all relative guesses. At first it appeared relatively solid, dark grey, non-shiny, rough metallic coloring. But it also didn’t appear at the same time completely solid to my view. Didn’t appear to have any wings or appendages. Then something interesting happened. The thin cloud cover it was hovering underneath broke slightly and light shined through (as it was midday) onto the craft. When the light first hit the upper left portion, it appeared to make the dark grey rough metallic exterior more defined and solid. But as the light quickly broke across the front of the craft, the craft seemed to distort the light and the craft almost looked translucent in the middle with a rough outline remaining. I also could see clearly at that point that it was definitely not a plane and definitely had no wings. Again, it was also still hovering still. Up to this point, I had taken my eyes off it several times over the course of a couple minutes to watch the highway/other cars, and I easily re-found the UFO with my sight when I would look back to the cloud cover it was under. After I saw the light change it’s shape and I knew it was something unusual, I reached for my phone to video it. My phone was on the shotgun seat instead of in my center console as usual so I had to take my eyes off the sky and look to grab it. In that instant, I looked back, and the UFO was gone. It either had sped away instantaneously or had become completely invisible. I proceeded to look toward the cloud cover it was near, above, below, etc. as I drove into PA on 95. I was with my daughter and we had planned to grab donuts from the Bakery by the river there and go to the boat lunch to sit in the sun and eat a treat and hang by the river. So, I was basically in the area beneath where I had spotted it for the next couple hours and still so no signs of the craft after. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
This case is under investigation by Assistant State Director Ken Pfeifer.
One of the most intriguing encounters during the summer of 1950, took place in Dardennes in Var, France on 3rd August. 3-year-old “Lily F” would go missing while playing in a field right next to her parent’s home. However, she wouldn’t return home and her frantic parents began searching the area. They were doing so for over 2 hours and much to their despair they couldn’t find her.
However, she was soon discovered near a small ravine, unharmed and not at all scared. She would go on to tell her parents that she was looked after by a “beautiful lady” who had on a “brilliant white costume”. While some would put such a description down to an angel-type entity. However, such a description might also fit with an extraterrestrial occupant.
Incidentally, this case has all the hallmarks of the Missing 411 type of disappearance cases, some of which reappear in much the same circumstances as Lily F did. Was this a case of alien intervention? Or was it one of the missing person’s cases as recorded by David Paulides? Or might, in a bizarre way, it be partly both of those things? We will examine the Missing 411 mysteries in a future case study article.
At around 10 am on the morning of 4th August the MARCALA ship, featuring an international crew, was on its way from Walton in Nova Scotia heading to a United States Naval port on the northeast coast of America. As the witness and several of the other on-duty personnel were going about their duties, a cry came out claiming that an object was flying straight toward them.
When the crew focused their attention on the approaching craft, they could see it was flying at an altitude of around 50 to 100 feet above the surface of the water. Rates of speed varied from the crew, with some claiming the object moved around 250 miles per hour while others put the pace closer to 500 miles per hour.
When the cylindrical shaped object was within around 1,000 feet of the ship it would suddenly change course and quickly vanish over the horizon. What further amazed the witnesses was the complete lack of noise from this shining, silver-colored craft.
What perhaps made this incident even more interesting is the interest the United States intelligence services took in it. They would interview all of those on deck at the time of the sighting, including the three main witnesses. They would determine that “despite the discrepancies, it was quite evident to the Intelligence Officers” that the three men were certain of what they had seen. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
Me and my 10 year old son saw UFO maybe up to 4 flying over our home about 11 pm last Friday night. They came from the right there is no flight path there we actually saw 2 join into one in a red color but I never got that on film. There was another one that hovered back and forward and side to side over my home. We went downstairs and videoed what was a flashing blue and silver circle moving around. I videoed it when I came back up. I froze shot the video and can see a blue looking circle with what looks like some discharge around it. I have been studying Ufology for 27 years and never seen anything like this. They were not choppers as they made no sound when I flashed my light on my phone. They all came nearer and then slowly dispersed .
One of the most intriguing encounters according to back in the United States at Hamilton Air Force Base. It was early in the morning, a little after 1 am on the 21st June when the two witnesses, Garland and Pryor, were going about their normal on-duty activities.
However, a strange blue-flame-like object began approaching them in the distance. They would estimate it to be around 2,000 feet high and moving through the air in excess of 1,000 miles per hour. When the two airmen used their military-issued binoculars to view the objects, they could clearly see a “circular craft, think in the center and tapered to (the) edges”. They would go on to describe the object as a cone-shape.
As the object passed over them, the blue flame was distinctly clear. What’s more, it appeared perfectly clear to them that the object was under intelligent control. After it disappeared into the night sky, it would seemingly come back around again. As it reappeared there was a “roaring like thunder” sound that rang over the entire region.
The craft would pass over the base four more times in the next 25 minutes before it finally disappeared. Once again, this continuing circular passes over the base would suggest some kind of reconnaissance mission.
Perhaps of most concern, however, was the suddenly called press conference the day after the sighting. The two pilots would appear and essentially withdraw everything they had said the previous day. With that, the Air Force stated there would be no further comment on the incident. To say some were suspicious of the move would be an understatement. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
One of the first encounters of April, and certainly one that was unnerving for all involved, would take place in the skies over Venezuela in a DC-3 commercial passenger plane on the evening of 2nd April 1950. In what was an “uneventful” flight, pilots John Power and Angel Delgado would suddenly feel their plane shaking violently. As they grabbed hold of the controls each of them witnessed a “huge machine” surge past their aircraft. Powers would recall later:
It was an enormous apparatus of aerodynamic form, similar to an immense turtle. And I have no doubt this machine was (intelligently) guided!
On the same evening, over Butler in Pennsylvania, several motorists driving along Highway 38 witnessed a strange light overhead. They would bring their vehicle to a stop so they could get a closer look at this strange aerial anomaly. As they did, they witnessed a fast-moving “silver football” which glistened in the late-afternoon sun.
The witnesses, calm and concise with their details, were insistent that they had not witnessed an airplane or any other type of conventional aircraft. They would describe the object as making no sound whatsoever and around 100 feet long. It was, they would insist, a “metallic-like football” that passed overhead at around 6,000 feet.
As the sightings not only continued but seemingly increased daily, so did the explanations from the authorities. Anything from birds, meteors, and reflections, to simply mass hysteria and outright hoaxes.
Perhaps around this time, the realization that had already hit many investigators who had stuck with such strange incidents in the aftermath of the Roswell incident. The authorities, it would seem, was not only more aware of such activities than they would let on publicly, but where possible, they were actively covering up such encounters.
“We Know Nothing About Flying Saucers!”
On the morning of 4th April over the Air Force Intelligence headquarters in Dayton, Ohio, two UFOs would approach the base and perform a “fly-around” the perimeters. It was just after 5 am when two “brilliant points of light” appeared in the early morning sky. As they increased in size and glow, more and more people gathered outside the base to witness this most bizarre experience.
Within no time at all the two lights were over the base, “sweeping down” with alarming speed. After circling the base, they then shot back upwards at an equally fantastic rate. They would maintain this climb until they were out of sight of the witnesses.
Before daylight had fully claimed ownership of the skies over Dayton, the two lights appeared once more. This time, they would “dart about in all directions” over the city. Every now and then they would pause and hover momentarily.
Perhaps bizarrely, and once more a testament to the exercise in denial already underway, when authorities received calls from concerned members of the public, they would deny any knowledge of the strange lights and that they “know nothing about flying saucers”. This would prompt one Dayton resident to claim the air force must be “napping over there” if they really didn’t witness the bizarre events.
Whether there is a connection or not is uncertain, but later that afternoon over Denver, Colorado, two similar lights, apparently darting around the skies for several minutes, were witnessed by several residents.
Later that evening at around 9:30 pm over the skies of Delano in California, a “circular object” was witnessed by several residents of the city. According to their report, the object was “whirling on its axis” as it made its way over the city, barely 200 feet from the ground.
Multiple Sightings On The West Coast Blamed On Venus!
The following day brought more multiple sightings across the United States. For example, at around 7 pm on the evening of 5th April in San Jose, California, an anonymous female resident witnessed a “dull white disc” moving through the morning sky before vanishing behind a shock of trees. The object made no sound and left no vapor or smoke behind. Furthermore, although the witness could tell the craft was metallic, she couldn’t see any markings that you might expect to see on a conventional aircraft.
Later that day, reports of similar objects would surface in Colorado, Michigan, and Arizona. Whether a legitimate explanation or not, many of the sightings, particularly those in the western states of America, were blamed on the planet Venus, which was particularly low on the date in question.
On the same night, across the Atlantic Ocean in the town of Whitby in England, several people witnessed “two rings” moving overhead for around a minute before they disappeared from sight.
The Ardennes Incident, France
Perhaps one of the most bizarre encounters during the 1950 UFO wave took place in early May near Buzany in the Ardennes region of France. On this particular morning, at their usual time of 6:30 am, 14-year-old Madeleine Pierrad went with her father to the meadows to assist in rounding up their cows.
As they made their way to the fields, however, the young girl was surprised at what she at first thought was the unusual lowness of the sun. Then, a strange sound the young girl would describe as “Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!” rang out. As she and her father made efforts to process the bizarre scene in their heads, a “ball of fire” was now visible in front of them. The more they looked at this strange shape in front of them, the more it began to appear saucer-shaped behind the glare.
Then, when the flames cleared a little more, the pair could see through the glass-like exterior. Inside, was a humanoid occupant, wearing a suit that made him appear like the “Michelin Man”. Then, as she was watching this strange figure, she suddenly realized that it too was watching her. The realization shocked her somewhat.
The whole incident lasted approximately two minutes. Then, the object began to rise into the air, spinning slightly as it did. Within several moments, it had vanished from their sight. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
One of the first sightings of March – which saw a dramatic increase once more in UFO encounters – would unfold on the 1st of the month over the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The main witness, Robert Ostos, an aeronautic official, would report that an “unexplained object of metallic appearance” hovered over the region for around five minutes at an altitude of around 15,000 feet. It would then speed off at breakneck speed toward the south.
Ostos would report the incident himself to the El National newspaper. However, when the publication contacted Mexican authorities for follow-up information on the investigation they were met with silence on the matter.
On the same date in the United States in Knoxville, Tennessee, despite there being some division as to the authenticity of the account, radar equipment would pick up several strange objects in the region at an estimated altitude of 40,000 feet. Checks with airports and authorities would confirm that no other planes were in the region at the time.
The following day, in the morning at approximately 11 am, and once more at 10 pm, as well as on the afternoon of the 3rd March, radar equipment would again pick these strange anomalies. What’s more, on these repeat sightings, the objects had increased their altitude to 80,000 feet and were traveling at around 200 miles per hour.
The US Air Force would put the radar reading down to faulty equipment or possibly due to a nearby atomic plant. With this last point in mind, the atomic plant very well may have been the point of interest of these strange visitors.
Whatever the cause of the strange sightings over Knoxville, several hours later, similar incidents were unfolding over Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan.
The Selfridge Air Force Base Incident
Although the witness would remain anonymous, a serving member of the United States Air Force stationed at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan would have several strange sightings beginning a little after 11 pm on the evening of 3rd March.
The officer in question was on his way from the Officer’s Club toward the main gate of the facility when he noticed a strange object descending directly over the Post Exchange building. At an altitude of around 5,000 feet, the object stopped its descent and hovered for approximately 60 seconds before moving off toward the west. It would eventually disappear into the distance out of his sight. From his first noticing the object to the point it vanished, four minutes had passed.
The officer would also offer that the “great speed in the lateral plane” and its “rapid change in direction” distinguished it from both conventional aircraft and other “heavenly bodies”.
Five days later, the witness experienced a similar incident. While on radar duty during interceptor exercises, another strange object appeared on the radar screen. This time, it appeared to be around 20,000 feet above the F-80 jets that the witness was overseeing.
When the radar data was later analyzed, it was estimated the object was moving anywhere from 420 miles per hour its slower speeds to in the region of 2,500 miles per hour at its higher speeds. Military investigations into the incident would suggest an aerial anomaly had caused the radar reading.
The Houston Village Theater Sighting
A sighting on the 5th March in Houston was witnessed by a bus driver and a family who were passengers on his bus after visiting the Village Theater in the city. Despite the increasing number of sightings and reports being made all around the United States and the newspaper coverage that these incidents were receiving, the witnesses were hesitant to make a report at first, fearing ridicule if they should do so.
However, ultimately, they would come forward and volunteer what they had seen. As the driver put the vehicle in motion on the evening in question after picking up the family near the Village Theater, he would spot the strange “glowing auto tire” hovering over the top of the Meilie Experson Building.
As the strange object moved in a bizarre “left-right” motion overhead, the driver also noticed that it appeared to have a tail similar to a kite. The family on the bus would corroborate the driver’s statements, with one of the children, a 10-year-old girl, claiming it was “better than the movie” they had just seen.
Strangely, in the days following the report of the sighting, the bus driver would claim to receive a visit from a Mr. Crawford, who claimed to be a “government agent”. What’s more, he was keen to discuss the bus driver’s recent sighting in more detail.
During the month of March, UFO sightings were literally a daily occurrence, with most days being witness to multiple sightings. An incident on 8th March across the Texas border in Mexico, however, would stand out more than most.
The “Midget Pilot” Incident, Mexico City, Mexico
According to a report in the 9th March edition of the Washington Herald, a “chemicals and explosives expert” witnessed the ruins of an “ultra-streamlined flying saucer” in the mountains on the outskirts of Mexico City the previous day. Furthermore, whether through invitation or not, “top US officials” had visited the site and explored the wreckage.
The witness, Robert Dimmick, who was in the area on business for his employers the Apache Powder Co., claimed to have seen a part of the wreckage up-close – a “sheet of metal” that appeared similar to aluminum but was “much harder”.
Furthermore, and using the information given to him by associate businessmen in the region, a small occupant pilot was also discovered in the wreckage. The body, according to Dimmick, was now “embalmed for scientific study”.
The account is another that divides opinion within the UFO community. It is perhaps worth remembering what we mentioned in the opening. That many newspaper articles, seemingly with information being discreetly fed by the Air Force, were creating a layer of disinformation among the UFO accounts of the era. Almost as if they had prior knowledge of the wave that was upcoming. Was this account one of those or a genuine incident?
UFO Chase Over Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
Whether the account of Robert Dimmick is genuine or not, back in the United States, at approximately the same time, another UFO encounter was unfolding. At a little after 10 am over Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
As the Trans-World Airlines plane made its way through the Ohio skies, the Civil Aviation Authority would receive a report from its captain. According to the communication, a “gleaming UFO was visible” from their position. The anomaly was simply hovering over their position. Furthermore, the CAA would receive around 20 separate calls referring to the strange objects hovering overhead.
Even more crucial, multiple witnesses would view the object from the ground, including those at the air force base and the Technical Intelligence Center. Radar operators would further pick up the object as F-51 fighter jets were preparing to scramble on intercept missions. As they left the runway, radar operators would advise them of where their target was.
It appeared to be at high altitude – at least 15,000 feet – but the jets had the strange craft within their sights. Then, however, a bank of clouds rolled over and obscured their view. By the time they refocused, the object had vanished.
They would spread out and head into the clouds. However, it would soon become apparent that they were much thicker than they expected. Furthermore, their instruments and equipment icing up at an incredible rate. Their radars, though, claimed they were almost on top of their target. However, with the cloud continuing to thicken the pursuit was abandoned.
Multiple Sightings Everyday, All Times Of Day And Night
As the end of March neared, UFO activity was going into overdrive. And not just in the United States. Mexico, for example, at least according to some of the newspaper reports of the time, was experiencing “fantastic phenomena” with visits from “silvery balls”, “luminous discs”, and “strange objects”.
Furthermore, whether in the North American continent, South America, Europe, or wherever such reports were coming from during this time, the vast majority were seemingly of “saucer” or “disc” shaped crafts, usually a glistening silver in color.
Night sightings were usually accompanied by strange glowing lights, usually red, white, or green. And while these strange crafts certainly appeared to have the capabilities to pick up great speeds, many of these sightings in the opening months of the 1950s featured prolonged periods of calm flight or even hovering in one spot for several minutes. Almost as if some kind of surveillance was taking place as part of a global reconnaissance mission.
One particular incident from the end of March that stands out took place on the evening of 20th March over Stuttgart in Arkansas. At just before 9:30 pm, Chicago and Southern Airlines pilots, Captain Jack Adams and First Officer Gary Anderson were flying a DC-34 over the region when they witnessed a disc-shaped object approaching their location.
The pilots would estimate the object to be approximately 100 feet across with a light on the top in the middle which would blink or flash. On the underside were several evenly spaced and perfectly symmetrical ovals from which a “soft purple light” leaked out. After approximately 30 seconds, the object vanished as fast as it had arrived.
While the vast majority of sightings were still very much in the United States and the North American continent as the second quarter of 1950 began, there was a distinct increase in sightings coming from all other areas of the world. Reports were coming from everywhere, from Australia and Japan, the Far East, Africa, and all over Europe. NOTE: The top image is CGI.
On the 8th February, multiple reports would come of a “flying cone” over the San Francisco Bay Area in California. On the same day in Tampa, Florida, the crew of a B-29 bomber would witness a rocket-shaped craft seemingly moving at close to 2,000 miles per hour. Three days later, back in California in Pacific Grove, a silver disc was observed hovering in the sky just before sunset.
On the 14th February in Waco, Texas, two local residents would observe “a pair of green UFOs” speeding through the sky above, similar to “two dimly glowing little moons”. Furthermore, the edges were much brighter than the middle, leading the witness to believe they were spinning or rotating.
The following day in Sandia, New Mexico, a similar object was spotted in the late afternoon at around 3:30 pm. They were visible for several minutes and had the appearance of a “marble” in the sky. The object, while glowing green would occasionally turn a reddish color. It would eventually disappear without making a sound.
Pilot, Richard Lemmon was flying toward Du Quoin in Illinois early on the morning of the 27th February along with his wife when, at around 7 am, he noticed a strange object in the air above them. He would climb to the object’s level, coming to within half a mile of it. He would later describe it as disc-shaped with a “high metallic shine”.
A Surge Of Activity In New Mexico, Late-February
Beginning on the afternoon of 24th February and lasting for several days, a surge of UFO activity appeared to take place over various bases and locations around New Mexico.
At just before 2 pm on the 24th February, Weather Observer, Luther McDonald was tracking a weather balloon in a field near Municipal Airport when he noticed round object similar to an “elongated egg” with a slight darkening on the top-left side. Unfortunately, McDonald would take his eye off the strange object for a second while he went to locate the weather balloon. When he returned his focus to where the object was only moments before, it had disappeared.
Later that same day, at around 7:30 pm in the evening, at Holloman Air Force Base, several Photographic Branch Project Staff, whose duty it was to track and photograph strange aerial phenomena, would witness and indeed capture a picture of a “circular luminous object” as it hovered overhead.
Several hours later, at 2:30 am in the early hours of the 25th February, a “white round object” appeared in the sky overhead and remained there for around 4 hours. It would finally move of its own accord and head toward nearby mountains, changing color from red to green as it did so.
Later that afternoon, at just before 4 pm at the Atomic Energy Security Service in Los Alamos, 12 different members of the group witnessed silver, flashing, cylindrical object overhead. It would “fly slow, then fast, flutter and oscillate, (and then) change course”.
on the evening of 18th February in Copenhagen, Denmark, at around 8:30 pm, farmer, Christian Sandersen, and his wife would see two “flying saucers” moving at great speed over their land. What’s more, while one of the bizarre futuristic crafts hovered over the farmland, the other would seemingly explode and “disintegrate into thousands of brightly glowing sparks”.
The following morning, at around 7:20 am on 19th February, 11 witnesses would see a “bullet-shaped object” near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
A similar report would come from Durban in South Africa in the early hours of the 21st February. At just before 5 am three road users and several other witnesses in the vicinity, would report seeing a “dark, red torpedo-shaped object” moving overhead.
Perhaps one of the strangest reports during this time comes from Captain Arturo Prat Base in Antarctica on 23rd February. Not only was a strange aerial object observed overhead and hovering near the ice, but animals at the facility would become suddenly anxious at the object’s presence.
On the evening of the 25th February in Paso Hondo, Mexico, an anonymous male witness would report “several cone-shaped objects” overhead. Similar reports at roughly the same time would come from Spain, France, and Italy.
They would also continue much further afield. For example, several “flying discs” were reported in Ethiopia, while a single silver disc was witnessed over Morocco, and over Heliopolis in Egypt. Similar objects would be seen over Cyprus, Turkey, Brazil, and Chile. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
At 9:380 pm, we noticed a bulb like object with a tail and lights all around it coming in from above our apartment. We live on the 9th floor in a downtown Fort Lauderdale apt., close to Fort Lauderdale International Airport. We went outside to the balcony and noticed the object turned and started moving West. I grabbed my phone and started taking pictures, I was able to get 1 clear picture and 2 others of it moving, but they are blurry. We watched the object continue to move West for 5 minutes. It just continued up into the sky on its path until it just looked like a star. When the object was near us, it did seem like it was almost wobbling from side to side at times. The night before, 9/25, there were black helicopters near our apartment, which came in from above the way the object had arrived. This was the night before we actually saw the object though so I am not sure that they are related
I was on vacation in 2014 in Beach Haven NJ. I was sitting on the deck of our rental house on Ocean Blvd. There were a few of the regular things far out into the ocean ( Container Ships waiting for the ports, etc ) but they were miles out. It was a perfectly clear night with about a 1/4 moon. As I was looking south, I saw something(s) in the water.not far offshore, what seemed to be maybe less than a mile. It seemed to get closer and I could see some very dim lights. ( I was thinking, where the hell did that fishing boat come from, since my view of the beach goes on for miles ). Fairly soon, it began to get closer and I’m still thinking it was a fishing boat.. Next thing I know, I had to rub my eyes because it looked like the “Fishing Boat) was above the water. well, the object(s) kept getting closer (Traveling from the South east to the North and North East, and I could see that they were in “The Air” so now I’m thinking crazy para-gliders that we see all day are flying at night.. But soon enough I notice that whatever they are, are giant. I took out my phone because I could not believe my eyes and I tried to record. But I could see after a few seconds that the video would be very dark. I switched to the camera option and started to take pictures. ( Note, this was high tech at the time, but still a crappy I-Phone 4. Maybe I should have put on the flash, but I was too awestruck watching to figure it out. As the objects got closer, I could clearly see 2 distinct objects. One object went directly over our house in a NW heading while the 2nd Object headed almost directly North along the beach, still maybe a hundred yards off shore. I’m fairly good at judging size, and these things were probably as big as a commercial airplane each one had what looked to be 3 rows of lights running from front to back on the underside. and they were completely silent ! They proceeded to head NE and N until I could no longer see them over the house, at which time I ran down to Ocean Blvd where I could see them seemingly speed up until they were out of sight. The next day I bought all of the local newspapers hoping someone else had seen them. Nothing. But Like I said, It was probably 2-3 in the morning. At the time, I figured I would not act like a freeaking crazy person and alert the media because my only evidence was crap pictures from an I-Phone 4. I talked about it to my friends and family, as a a freaking crazy siting and mostly forgot about it except when stories of “LBI” as we call it come up. The reason I am contacting “You” is because I recently found that phone in my junk drawer and remembered the video was on that phone. I figured I could try to use “some Program” to enhance the video, but that is not my specialty. I would gladly send the phone to you with the unedited pictures and video and maybe you can do something with it. I would really like to know if what I was, are actual UFO’s or just some damn man made thing I never heard of. Note, I’m a bit of an air craft enthusiast and I have never seen anything like this.
This case is under investigation by Ken Pfeifer Assistant State Director.
On Tuesday, April 25, 2001, a very strange object is reported by civilians and law enforcement officers in the evening skies near Waynesville, Ohio in Warren County.
From their residence near the 4600 Block of Wilkerson Road, a husband and wife are the first to report a circular lighted object hovering silently in the sky to the south of their location.
The big light of the UFO, pulsating or changing in both color and brightness, was said to be encased within a structure that resembled gridwork or cabling.
The couple advised the Lebanon City Police Department of the object around 10:15 p.m. and the Warren County Communications Center dispatched a Waynesville police officer to the location.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Waynesville officer confirmed the unidentifiable nature of the object and also reported that a second UFO was also in the area.
LOCAL: WHAT IS IT!
Unit #2W30: I have NO IDEA, and you wouldn’t believe it if you came out and saw it! There’s two of them, just sitting stationary and blinking, I mean about five different colors, right here on Wilkerson, just off of South Main Street…
FEMALE OFFICER: This is 480-16
Unit #2W30: I’m not kidding! Go ahead.
FEMALE OFFICER: Okay, we’re on the backside of that, here in the lot because I couldn’t stand it no more. Where is it at, is it in the air?
Unit #2W30: In the air! Okay? He’s got the owner of the house has some binoculars and we’re looking at these things and uh, it’s just I don’t know what they are!
They’re high up, they look like uh, they’re up there but with our binoculars though, the ones he’s got here, you can see them pretty clearly. There’s probably five different colors, there’s two of them and they’ve stayed in the exact same spot the whole time.
They’re not stars, I can tell you that.
As other officers respond to the location and continue to view the abnormalities, dispatchers at the Warren County Communications Center telephone a base operator at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton/Fairborne, Ohio and also places a call to Airborne Express at the Wilmington Airport in Clinton County, Ohio.
Both flight control facilities deny any knowledge of or responsibility for air traffic in the Waynesville, Ohio vicinity during the incident.
While the Waynesville police officers view the object from Wilkerson Road looking south, a police dispatcher also observes the same object from her position at the Warren County Communications Center in Lebanon, Ohio, looking north toward Waynesville. From review of the police tapes, it can be estimated that the primary object may have been in a general location between Waynesville and Lebanon near the intersections of Pekin Road and Route 42.
An officer with the Caesar’s Creek State Police also notes the UFO from his location to the east of Waynesville. A third UFO is sighted in the area during the event, and the police witnesses repeatedly affirm a cogent distinction between the suspected UFOs and routine stars and airplanes. The objects move off by receding further into the distance as other officers from the Ohio State Patrol arrive on the scene.
Dispatchers at the Ohio State Patrol and the Warren County Communications Center express frustration at having to handle this situation and their inability to address the reports and eyewitness confirmation from their officers.
The next evening, Wednesday, April 25, UFOs are again reported in the same area at 9:48 p.m., viewed from Wilkerson Road and also by officers observing from a location near the Waynesville Airport. Disturbingly, another unusual object is seen in the area seven hours later and reportedly pursues a motorist near Genntown, Ohio (about 5-miles from Waynesville).
A female complainant advises the Ohio State Patrol of her ‘extreme concern’ regarding a triangular object with “super bright lights” that pursued her automobile while traveling on Route 122 at 5:00 a.m., April 26.
These and other details were acquired from eyewitness interviews, analysis of various police reports and evaluation of police tapes acquired through the Warren County Director of Emergency Services. Additional data was gathered through field investigation conducted on April 27th and April 28th.
Consideration has been given to the possibility that this situation was engendered by a misperception of routine stars and planets by both civilians and police officers on both evenings. This theory was first advanced by Peter Davenport of the National UFO Reporting Center, who was advised of the incident by the Ohio State Patrol while the sighting was in progress.
The star ‘Sirius’ was identified by Davenport as a likely candidate for misperception, but after sober review of the police tapes acquired from the Warren County Department of Emergency Services, this attempt at explanation is not looked upon favorably. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
Keith Rylance told us that he had gone to sleep in the caravan bedroom at about 9.30 pm. Petra retired to her bedroom in the caravan annex. Amy stayed on a couch watching TV in the caravan annex “lounge room”. Each of these locations were in close proximity, separated by a window and wall respectively from the lounge room.
Petra’s room had a door leading to the lounge room, which was left ajar. The door to the bedroom, where Keith was, apparently was open to the lounge room. Amy apparently fell asleep on the couch. A storm was in the area.
Around 11.15 pm, Petra was reportedly woken up and when she entered the adjacent lounge was confronted by an extraordinary sight, that allegedly quickly overwhelmed her. A rectangular beam of light was being projected through the open window of the caravan lounge room.
This light beam appeared to be truncated at the end. Inside the beam Petra claims to have seen Amy in a sleep prone position, being carried out head first through the window. Underneath her, also within the beam were the items that had been on the coffee table adjacent to the couch Amy had been on. Before apparently fainting in shock Petra saw that the beam was coming from a disc shaped UFO hovering just above the ground a short distance away, near a tree at the rear of the clear section, immediately behind the annex caravan house.
Petra reports she believes she was only in a faint for a very short period of time. Regaining consciousness, she began screaming. Keith reports that he was awoken by the commotion coming from Petra. As he came from the caravan bedroom and stepped down into the lounge room annex Keith claims he was confronted by the sight of a highly agitated Petra and the contents of the coffee table on the floor in front of the window.
He told us that he soon realised that the window screen was torn in both a vertical fashion and along the bottom of the window frame. Keith indicated that initially he couldn’t get any sense out of Petra who was crying and very agitated, so he rushed outside trying to locate Amy.
She was reportedly nowhere to be found. Keith states when he started to be less agitated himself he was eventually able to get from Petra an idea of what happened. Keith claims he initially refused to believe what Petra was telling him. He said he rushed outside again trying to find his wife.
Eventually as the situation became clearer, Keith indicates he decided to call the police.
Keith call the Tiaro police around 11.40 pm reporting that his wife had been abducted and imploring that the police should come out. The manning status at that time meant there were some delays in the police coming out, but about hour and a half after the initial call Senior Constable Robert Maragna from Tiaro and an officer from Maryborough arrived at the site.
Initially police thought they might have been walking into a situation involving foul play, even perhaps a murder scene, but then the bizarre circumstances of the alleged events came into focus.
The two people, Keith and Petra, at the Gundiah property were claiming that Amy Rylance had been abducted by a “spaceship”! The officers were struggling to keep an open mind.
They were joined later by Sgt. John Bosnjak, the officer in charge of the Tiaro police. He had been asleep when the police called him to assist in the investigation. The three officers continued their investigations at the site. They confirmed that Keith Rylance and Petra Heller appeared to be in an agitated state and that there was no sign of Amy Rylance. The torn screen was examined.
A flowering bush, commonly known as “yesterday, today, tomorrow” was located immediately outside the left side of window, had indications of possibly being affected by heat or another mechanism along its right side. Oddly another flowering bush, a hibiscus, located immediately on the right hand side of the window area was not affected in the same way. The police took samples for possible later testing.
While the police were at the property, a phone call came through, which was taken by Keith Rylance. A woman was calling from Mackay indicating that she had taken a somewhat distressed and apparently dehydrated young woman from a BP petrol service station on the northern outskirts of central Queensland city of Mackay, some 790 kilometres to the north of the Gundiah – Tiaro area.
The young woman turned out to be Amy Rylance, and the female caller was ringing to advise that Amy was apparently all right and was at the Mackay hospital,
where she had been examined by a doctor. Keith handed the phone to Snr. Constable Marangna.
Given these extraordinary circumstances Mackay police were called in, making a total of three police stations involved in the investigation -Tiaro, on outskirts of central Qeensland, Maryborough on the coast and
Mackay, some 790 kilometres to the north of the Gundiah – Tiaro area.
A statement was notarised by the Mackay police with a Justice Act acknowledgement, that required Amy to acknowledge that she had stated
was true to the best of her knowledge and belief, and that if it is admitted as evidence, that she may be liable to prosecution if she had indicated anything in it that she knew was false.
This statement indicated that she last only recollected lying on the couch at the Gundiah property. She had no recollection of the events that Petra described, but claimed she then next remembered waking up lying on a
bench in a strange rectangular room. llumination came from the walls and the ceiling. She was alone.
She indicated she called out and heard what seemed to be a male voice, asking her to be calm and that everything
would be alright and that she would not be harmed. Soon an opening appeared in the wall and “a guy” about 6 feet tall walked into the room.
The man appeared to be slender in build but in perfect proportion, covered head to foot in a full body suit. He had what seemed to be a black covering mask on his face, with a hole for his eyes, nose and mouth. He repeated his calming assurances.
Amy felt she had been there a while.
The guy told her they were returning her to a place not far from where they took her from, because the lights were wrong at the property and it wasn’t safe. She then indicates she found herself lying on the bed and falling asleep.
The next thing she recollects is that she woke up on the ground with trees around her. She felt disorientated, could smell the ocean, and indicated she was not sure how long she tumbled through bushland, but seemingly
it was for a long time, but she felt she wasn’t making much progress.
She then came out onto a road that looked like a highway and saw a light from a petrol station. She walked into the station, where staff seeing her state, tried to offer some assistance.
She accepted some water, as she felt somewhat dehydrated. Initially she was not able to answer identifying questions, and didn’t know where she was.
She was also asked if she had been drinking or was on drugs, to which she said no. Amy indicated she felt tired, sore, drained and lethargic. She asked a woman at the service station to take her to the hospital, as she
didn’t know of where else to go. The woman and her friend took Amy to the hospital.
Later Amy spoke with two police officers and also spoke with her husband Keith from the hospital. She then went to Mackay police station where she gave the statement of events. Amy also indicated that this sort
of thing had never happened to her before, but when she was in 5th year school she had seen a large UFO surrounded by smaller objects.
The police arranged to put Amy in a motel pending the arrival of her husband. He and Petra arrived during the day and indicated they spent considerable time with Amy discussing what happen. Extensive notes were apparently made and photographs were taken of a triangular arrangement of marks on her inner right thigh, marks on each heel and the growing out of her hair which she had dyed earlier in the week.
Her hair had apparently started to show her former colour, suggestive that some considerable time had passed for her, apparently indicative of rather more than a few hours. Body hair had allegedly also become somewhat more pronounced that would otherwise would be apparent for the short time involved.
Via an Newsagent’s a copy of the Australian Ufologist magazine was purchased, Keith, Petra and Amy started to learn more about UFOs. Keith Rylance contacted the Australian UFO Research Network office number mentioned in the magazine. Diane Harrison took the call Date: Fri, 5 Oct 2001 15:20 p.m and for the next hour or so listened to the story that Keith and Amy told. Petra was apparently sleeping at the time.
Given the nature of the story, its complexity and the fact it apparently featured the alleged use of “solid light”, Diane decide to bring Bill Chalker into the investigation, making contact with him during the evening of Friday, October 5th.
Paradoxically Bill was scheduled to talk at a Brisbane UFO conference on October 13th, and his topics included “solid light” cases and the application of science to alien abduction cases. Bill put a call through to them at the motel, securing permission to record the conversation.
Once again Petra was not available to talk about her part in the alleged events. Keith Rylance went into considerable detail about the events, referring often to the notes they had apparently been compiling during the
day. The details described covered the events Petra had witnessed, what Keith had experienced, and what Amy told them had happened to her during her experience.
Finally Bill spoke with Amy, focusing mainly on
the events before and after the claimed onboard experiences, because Keith had already gone into considerable detail about the latter.
Bill discussed with Amy her general responses and her physical state and her current state of thought on her experiences. Keith Rylance seemed to want to control how both media and investigators would get involved.
His desire to contact the media promptly drew from both Diane and Bill the suggestion that he should think very carefully about the possible ramifications of doing so. Keith seemed to feel that it was important to get the story out, as it would come out anyway and this way he could control the way it did.
He was also trying to restrict the way the investigators could or should look into their experience. He claimed they didn’t need to proof the experience. While he didn’t directly witness the experiences he believed both Amy and Petra.
Given the possible nature of the event, and that irrespective of the ultimate resolution of the affair, it seemed destined to be a big story, Diane and Bill decided to undertake an investigation. They had been given an indication from Keith Rylance that the three would wait for the investigators to come to Mackay.
The claimants were in no apparent hurry to return to Gundiah. They gave permission for Bill and Diane to visit the property on the way. Bill arrived in the Brisbane area on Tuesday afternoon, October 9th.
Diane and Bill then travelled to Gundiah, arriving at the Whispering Winds winery property, just after 10 pm. Because of the lateness of the hour, we got the witnesses permission to stay there overnight and to conduct whatever investigation we needed to do.
Keith had arranged for a neighbour to regularly check on the two pets left behind, namely a parrot and a kelpie dog. He indicated to us that it would be okay to let the dog off for a run, but warned us it was very friendly but inclined to jump all over people.
We let the dog off at some point and observed its behaviour. At one point it did jump up on the window where the damaged screen was located. This gave some support to the possibility that at least some, if not all of the damage, could have been caused by the dog.
Some of the damage on closer inspection seemed suggestive of possible dog damage. Our inspection of the plant damage also suggested possible prosaic causes, such as heat stress. A plant at the front of the house had similar damage and a healthy flowering bush of the same species that was at the window, was examined by us at Mount Basset lawn cemetery has similar damaged.
A gardener there we spoke to indicated that the species often had random or more extensive damage of a heat stress nature from hot sunlight. The prosaic possibilities for both the screen and the plant damage are only suggestive at this point and further investigation is required. We undertook extensive investigations at the property and the area. Police were very helpful.
Our investigation generated many issues and questions, which we feel need resolution, in order to assist interpretations of these events. Further extensive investigations were undertaken in Mackay, focusing in particular at the area where Amy Rylance returned.
These included attempts to reconstruct the circumstances of Amy’s return, through onsite research. The BP petrol service station staff were spoken with and a surveillance video tape that may contain Amy’s visit there was provided to us by the station owner.
This part of our investigation also generated many issues and questions that need resolution if we are to approach any measure of certainty about the real nature of the events alleged.
Keith Rylance indicated to us he would be available to us when we got to Mackay, but it was made clear to us early on the first day of our investigations there that this wasn’t probably going to be the case.
When we contacted the motel where they had been the night before, their third motel in Mackay, we learned they had apparently already checked out that morning.
We left messages on their phone but didn’t hear from Keith until early on the afternoon of our second day, as we were leaving Mackay. In his mobile call, Keith apologised for not being available, but was indicating they had relocated to an unspecified location after having fled the area.
The primary reason for this Keith indicated was that they claimed they had a kind of “men-in-black” experience. In this case Keith was reporting a pursuit of their vehicle by a high powered dark brown 4 wheel truck. The nature of this event apparently frightened Keith, Amy and Petra, prompting Keith to attempt to loose the vehicle and eventually leave the area.
Before the completion of this preliminary report (14th October) we have heard from Keith again. We remain hopeful that they will get into more direct contact with us.
This affair is both extraordinary and controversial. Many have rushed to judgement, but given it’s complex and evolving dynamics, caution and patience is necessary. We have many issues and questions we would like
to try to resolve.
Further contact with the Rylances and Petra Heller may help this process.
The case is far from closed and requires an objective, open-minded investigation. Only time will give us the possibility of resolution and certainty about this intriguing but controversial affair.

We shall call our experiencer Eve. Eve was only 12 years old when she had an eerie encounter with the unknown. She was living with her Aunt and her cousins in Gulfport, Mississippi during the summer (July) of 1966. Gulfport is only a short distance down the coast from Pascagoula, which would be host to the landmark 1973 abduction of Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker.
At the bewitching age between childhood and adulthood, Eve would portray both roles this particular day. Playing in the back yard with her cousins, she began to feel a strange sensation… like something or someone was calling her, or watching her.
She turned to look behind her, and was stunned by the sight of a craft in the distance. The craft had an array of colored lights, a pretty and alluring sight to a twelve-year-old girl. The lights were blinking on and off. They encircled the strange craft, and these lights seemed to be of a color she had not seen before, and were extremely bright and clear. In her own words, “The more I looked, the more I wanted to keep looking.”
Though the onset of the sighting had been unnerving, she now felt a strange sense of contentment. The sight of the beautifully colored lights made her happy. She could not take her eyes off the craft and its twinkling lights.
The sighting had interrupted the children’s game of “hide and seek.” Eve was “it,” and since she was taking too long to find anyone, the others began to call for her. Eve could hear their cries, but she could not respond to their pleas. She was so strongly drawn to the craft, it was if she was glued to its presence… its charm.
The importance of her game was now insignificant compared to the strange object that had her mesmerized. Finally one of the impatient children found her and tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention. This jolted her back to reality, and she was then able to move. Eve was asked, “Why weren’t you trying to find us?” She responded, “I don’t know, but isn’t it pretty?” still drawn to the object.
She had not even turned toward her playmate, the craft still holding her attention. Eve pointed to the hovering, distant object. She said, “Look at that!” Her friend asked, “What is it?” The rest of the “hide and seek” gang was now on the scene, staring at the UFO. Mostly frightened, they wanted to leave, afraid it would “get them.”
One of the kids told Eve to come inside, but Eve refused, wanting to continue her watch.
Being warned that she might get into trouble by being outside after dark, Eve had watched her friends run to the back door, and then as she turned back to get one more look at the craft, she noticed it was much closer now. She could see two beings inside through a window! She could make out part of one of their bodies, and another being seemed to be controlling the UFO. The two appeared to be conversing with each other.
Eve felt as if they were talking about her, the lone person drawn to their presence. Both of the beings had long, slender arms, and the pilot of the object seemed to be focusing on Eve now.
Her happiness was beginning to turn into fright and she began running. She fled not in the direction of her house, but toward some bushes near the house. She was trying to lure the object’s attention away from her family inside the house. The UFO moved even closer to the ground now. Eve could hear no sound, but felt she was being targeted.
In her frantic run for safety, she looked back to see where the house-sized object was. A white beam was now projected from the bottom of the object, obviously searching for Eve.
She made it to the bushes before the beam could find her. She was now kneeling, shaking, and crying to herself. She prayed for God to help her, as the craft edged even closer to her hiding place.
“Had the craft found her?” she asked herself. The beam was moving…scanning the ground close to her. The object was totally motionless as the beam angled toward the ground. Soon the light disappeared up into the craft, not turned off, but drawn into the craft in one motion. Within a moment, the craft was gone.
She could barely make it out and it rose further into the sky. There were now three other craft just like the first one she saw. Eve could sense they were working in unison. The four craft were now moving slowly. Should she make a run for the house? No, not yet. Oh no!
Another craft now filled the place of the first one, and began searching the ground around the house and the bushes. After a few short moments, the beam was drawn back into the craft just like the first one had been. The second search craft now reunited with the remaining three. After what Eve estimated as some 20 seconds, the objects made a type of jerking motion, and in flash, they were gone. This was her chance. She ran for the house, and tried to open the screen door.
It was locked. She couldn’t believe she was locked out of her own house, and she began banging on the door, shaking the screen door, making all the noise she could.
“Where was everybody?” she thought. She called to her Aunt, who eventually came to the back door in her bed clothes. She asked Eve, “Who are you?” Eve said, “It’s me.” Her Aunt asked her what she was doing out so late. Eve told her that her cousins had just came in a few minutes before. Her Aunt’s reply shocked her, “Everyone has been in bed for a while.”
In Eve’s mind, she had only been outside about five minutes after her cousins had ran into the house. She wondered, “What had happened?”
Her Aunt explained that she remembered Eve was in the house when she locked the doors. Eve went to her and her cousin’s bedroom, and woke her cousin to ask her what had happened.
Her cousin also stated that she thought Eve was safe inside the house with the others before the doors were locked. The strange UFO and its occupants are gone now, but Eve’s haunting memories are not. She, to this day, does not understand what exactly occurred or why.
She turned her story in to one UFO investigative group, but no follow-up was done, and she was basically ignored. The case was not recent enough, she was told. The significance of what happened to Eve is not diminished by the passing of time. It is as important today as it was then.
Did Eve go into the house as the others claimed? Was she then abducted by the occupants of the UFO? Eve was too afraid and traumatized at the time to tell anyone what happened that summer night in Mississippi. Eve now wants to tell her story. Who will listen? NOTE: The above image is CGI.
I received an email report of a UFO incident from the witness involved. The sighting reportedly occurred on Sunday, October 20, 2002, near Tyrone, PA in Blair County. The man forwarded details concerning his experience, as well as two color photographs that he took of the object before it departed.
The witness indicated that he had also forwarded this material to the National UFO Reporting Center.
The witness is very concerned about being ridiculed, and requests not to be identified. Due to his concerns, my only communication with the witness has been via email. He has responded to my request for additional details concerning his observation.
Due to computer problems, I am unable to post the photographs at this time. I have talked with Peter Davenport at the National UFO Reporting Center, who is expected to post the pictures as soon as he completes his sighting report updates.
Sighting report narrative:
The witness was hiking in the woods on Ice Mountain near the town of Tyrone. The man had stayed out longer than he expected that day. He estimated that it was about 7:30 P.M. (local time) as he was walking back to his vehicle, when he noticed a bright light south of his location, moving towards him in a northerly direction. His first impression was that it was an airplane.
The light appeared similar to the brightness of a normal aircraft light when first observed. He then noticed that the light suddenly stopped, then began to pulsate and appear to brighten and dim. The witness then noticed a faint haze that was orange-red in color, and which encircled the object.
The pulsation pattern of the light began to increase, and it started to flicker very rapidly. The light became much brighter as it pulsated. Suddenly a thin beam of very bright blue-white light was emitted from the bottom of the object to the ground. The witness points out that this was not an ordinary searchlight.
The witness stated, “This was no searchlight. Even a well focused searchlight tends to diffuse with distance, but this light was a tight, bright beam from top to bottom.” The man tried to describe the appearance of the beam with the following statement. “Imagine a piece of dental floss held at arms length, and you’ll have a good idea of the beam’s apparent width from my location.”
The witness said that the pulsating effect suddenly stopped, and the beam of light went out. The observer commented, “As far as the form, I couldn’t see any craft or object per se, just the bright light itself and the beam that came down from it, as it was pretty dark at the time.” The object at first appeared to be circular in shape and orange-red in color. When the object stopped moving and began pulsating it seemed more oval or egg shaped.
The object continued to hover in the sky, and the witness ran to his vehicle which was about 100 yards away, to get his Olympus digital camera. The witness took one photograph as the object hovered, then a second picture was obtained just as the object was beginning to move around slowly in a tight circle. As the man prepared to take a third picture, the object, “suddenly shot straight up in the air at fantastic speed and was gone from sight.”
The sky conditions at the time of observation were described as partly cloudy. The witness did not detect any sound, or odd smells during the sighting. The witness estimates the total incident lasted about 5 minutes or less.
The witness commented that at the location where the light beam appeared to meet the ground, he estimated that he was about 1/4 mile away, or farther from the object, and that it was about 1,000 feet in altitude. The witness also mentioned that there is a large microwave relay tower at the top of the mountain, and, “the beam appeared to be hitting the ground close to the tower.” The man couldn’t see the exact spot where the beam hit.
In closing, the witness had these comments to make. “I don’t know what this thing was, but I know I’ve never seen anything like it before.” and “If anyone else saw this object, please let me know. If for no other reason, so I can stop questioning my sanity.”
