In the mid-1960s a sleepy Wiltshire town became the unlikely epicenter of a UFO phenomenon. Warminster, in West Wiltshire, became known globally for what was enigmatically called “The Thing”. The Thing took many forms by those who claimed to have observed it between 1965 and 1977. The first sign of The Thing was during the Christmas of 1964, when residents heard a loud, unidentifiable whine. The strange sightings were reported in the Warminster Journal. Local journalist Arthur Shuttlewood was instrumental in making the phenomenon national news and in one year more than 1000 sightings of unidentified flying objects were recorded.
They continued to be seen on a regular basis between 1965 and 1977, and in many ways formed a key chapter of the 1960s . Although there have been few sightings in recent years, Warminster is still seen by many as synonymous with UFOs. With the army based on nearby Salisbury Plain, Warminster is well known as a military town. This gave rise to the theory that visitors from outer space could very well have been mistaken military aircraft. But believers shrugged off this theory believing that the military were one of the reasons Warminster had been chosen for visitations. Whatever the reason for the coming of The Thing, it has certainly put Warminster on the map.
In the early 1960’s we lived in Kansas. We were small children then had a house on the North End of Great Bend, on the North end of Morton Street.
One night in 1964 or 65, I looked out of the kitchen window and saw a ‘white cube’ that glowed like a light bulb. It had a red light glowing on the inside of it. There are or were quite a few radio towers in the area and one huge TV 2 tower farther to the North.
The ‘cube shaped thing’ flew around that radio tower like a moth flies around a light bulb, only slower than a moth and it never hit the tower. Also, the red light was fading on an off like the tower light. Now, I believe the object was trying to communicate with the tower. When I first saw the object I was transfixed like a deer in headlights!
I ran to get my dad but like most dads, he said not to bother him, so I ran back to the kitchen yelling for my two brothers to come. When I got back to the window it was still flying near the tower.
Just before my brothers got to the window it traveled across the field towards me. It started hovering around 75 feet above the ground and was approximately 200 yards away. That’s when my two brothers joined me at the window and started asking, “What is that, what is that?”
It spun so fast that it morphed into a spinning ball and appeared as a white streak as it shot almost straight up angling towards the North West and was gone. We were very excited at witnessing how it zoomed away. “That was fast, really fast!”, reverberated in the room.
At the North end of the street was a wheat field, then to the North edge of that about one mile is the Dry Walnut Creek and on the North edge of that was the radio tower. The radio tower was around one and a quarter mile from the kitchen window where I first saw it. The 15 houses on our street, including ours, lined up along the wheat field East and West.
Years ago a man asked me about the sighting. He showed me a lot of pictures of UFO’s and asked if the object looked like any of them? When I said ‘No”, he suddenly wore a strange expression on his face. I have no idea who he was. All I know is that he was someone my dad knew. I would like to ask him where he got the pictures and if this sighting was some sort of simulation.
The object was very clear, a perfect shaped cube – not at all blurry. As it flew around the tower it really tumbled and then sped across the field at 100 to 150 mph, rolled a little, but as it hovered it stayed on a perfectly flat plane and slowly turned.
It glistened: not bright like a 100 watt light bulb but still glowing. The light was uniform throughout the object. The red light inside the craft disappeared after a few seconds, then it spun into a ball and left.
As I mentioned the object was cube-shaped and reminds me now of the Star Trek Borg ships. I would like to know where the show’s creator, Gene Roddenberry, got the idea for that cube ship, although, the only similarity between my sighting and the Borg cube was its shape. I believe we saw the object because we are not alone on this planet. Whatever we saw flying around that radio tower still intrigues me today!
The way the craft moved makes me believe it was under intelligent control. It maneuvered deliberately from field to field, sped up and slowed down and changed height. It was the size of a small box truck: 20 feet wide by 20 feet long. Today, I believe that the craft was just curious as if it had just discovered us by perhaps following the TV signal with the sub carrier wave to its source. This is a true story and I wanted to share it. Sighting was reported by Wade Meyer. NOTE: The above image is real but from another case file.
Hi Ken : I had braved it outside to sky watch even though It was bitterly cold and after about 20 minutes I was getting ready to go back inside the house to warm up, when I noticed an object in the sky that was off to the west. At first it was moving around erratically before it started to move in a intelligently controlled manner. I looked at it through my binoculars and I could see that the object was some type of structured craft which had two sphere’s on the top of it. There was a strange haze around the craft as it moved through the air which I thought was probably due to the cold air around it. I put down my binoculars and quickly took a photograph with my Sony HX-300 camera and then began to zoom in on the craft for a close up, but before I could the structured craft flew off at incredible speed which caused me to lose sight of it. I was left feeling very confused as to what I had just witnessed. What could this structured craft have been? I would really like to know what these strange aerial objects are and why they are so prevalent in the sky around this area. The photograph was taken at 4:01 PM on the 16th of February 2021, at Newton Abbot Devon England. All the best John.

I was at our local Walmart. I always take pictures of the sky. I noticed a circular opening in the clouds and went to take a picture of it. I took 3 pictures back to back. The first picture captured this object. I did not see it with my eyes and I didn’t realize I caught it until I went to review the photos. I tried replicating this taking at least 50 photos to ensure it wasn’t an artifact. I was completely still when takimg the photos and whatever this was had to moving. It seems to have came straight out of the clouds downwards leaving a light trail. It had to be moving extremely fast. I enhanced the photos and you can also see some type of patern on the lower part of the object. Almost like sections and some kind of markings.
Note: This is an unusual photo. The “disk shaped” object could be an artifact, but the witness took other photos and the object wasn’t present. This suggests that the object may have been present and then zipped away.
Hi Ken : I was outside in the back garden looking through my high powered zoom binoculars when I spotted a strange structured craft that was off to the west and was quite far away in the distance but, still discernible. It was moving diagonally through a cloud and I could see that the craft was metallic in nature as the sun light was reflecting off of it’s surface. It definitely wasn’t anything conventional and that’s why it had caught my attention. I put my binoculars down on the garden table and picked up my Nikon P900 camera. I then zoomed in on the craft and immediately took a photograph just before it flew up through the clouds and disappeared into the atmosphere. I was ecstatic I had once again captured a very compelling photograph of an alien craft high above the town. This is another genuine U.A.P. that I have managed to capture. It really is rather unfortunate that people don’t believe me when I have taken the time to submit my photographs to them. All the people who don’t believe me should come here to Newton Abbot when lockdown has ended to sky watch for a few hours just like I do every day. Then they would also see these strange aerial craft. The problem is that debunkers won’t put the time or effort into researching this topic, instead they sit at their computers spending hours on social media slandering and discrediting real UFO researchers like me who are genuine and are trying there best to get a real understanding of what is going on with this phenomena. These craft are real and are very prevalent around this area due to the town’s close proximity to the moors and the sea. I have been researching this topic for a very long time now and I know for a fact that these alien craft are coming out of the sea and flying up to the moors where they are mutilating sheep and pony’s for soft genetic material. The true purpose of why they are collecting this genetic material still remains a mystery, but I surmise that these beings are growing body’s so they can move more of their kind from there dimension over to our physical plane of existence. The photograph was taken at 11:39 AM on the 29th of January 2021, at Newton Abbot Devon England. All the best John.

Robert Campbell, Patrolman Peter McCollum, Sherman TX; Aug 2, 1965. 3 AM: “… a glowing UFO hovered near Sherman, TX. Broadcasting stations, police, and other agencies had been flooded with reports for hours. Television cameraman Robert Campbell was out with Patrolman Peter McCollum, interviewing witnesses and watching the objects for themselves.
Campbell took a still picture of the hovering UFO. A two minute time exposure while he and the police officer watched the thing. The picture was overexposed, possibly due to the brilliance of the UFO…”
“… I investigated ‘on-location’ at Sherman, TX… was photographed by television newsman Bob Campbell… He had been monitoring police calls on his radio and he left his home at 3:00 AM, armed with a 4×5 Speed Graphic and Tri-X film, to photograph the strange light he had heard reported on the police radio.
“Shortly after midnight a news photographer for a local television station, heard on his short wave radio, two police highway patrols discuss reports of an UFO tracked on radar and streaking towards the Texas border.
“The photographer took his 4×5 Speed Graphic camera and drove into town, where he met the Chief of Police. Together the two men searched for the object, and soon sighted it hanging stationary thirteen miles east of Sherman, on Highway 82.
“Its outline was clearly defined in the north-eastern sky, and the photographer set up his camera. He took four exposures, two minutes each at three-minute intervals. The negatives have been carefully examined by Air Force scientific advisers and by astronomical experts. No acceptable explanation has been found for the object recorded on the negatives. It must be considered a UFO.”
“The remarkable aspect of this particular incident is that, having been alerted by the same radio broadcast, several other individuals were also watching the object. Campbell and McCollum were one mile east of Bells, OK.
Highway patrolman Bill Quires was watching from Durant, 30 mi north of Bells, and Department of Public Safety Dispatcher Jim Faglia was watching from a point seven miles south of Sherman, thus precluding the possibility that the object could have been a planet or a star.”
The object’s shape was a cylinder with “Mercury capsule” shape at one end, possibly rounded at other end. Several distinct bands around diameter of cylinder, with disc shaped “bosses” on surface. Bands of luminosity.
An extrusion of luminosity from one band, and an ejection of an unknown material accompanied the object.
Tulsa, Oklahoma; August 3, 1965. The Tulsa Oklahoma photographic case is an extremely interesting one in that we have one excellent photograph of a multi-colored object which fails to resemble any known flying object, past or present.
The events leading to the taking of the picture were as follows:
At about 1:30 AM, Mr. A. L. Smith, accompanied by his 14 year old son Alan, and three other witnesses , were captivated with watching an unusual, multi-colored UFO.
Mr. Smith was a turbine engine specialist, working with American Airlines.
The unknown object seemed to be slowly moving toward the five witnesses. Still some several hundred yards away, it paused briefly and hovered.
At that precise moment, Alan snapped a photograph with his inexpensive camera, using ASA 64 film. Alan decided not to try for a second shot.
He took his camera inside the house, and ran back outside just in time to see the object rapidly flying away into the night sky.
His picture was extensively analyzed, pronounced authentic, and later published by Life magazine and many newspapers.
The picture was taken by my friend’s daughter outside her home on Sunday, November 15th 2020. She did not take the photo because of the UFO, she did not know it was there until looking at the photo afterwards. The reason she took the picture of the sky was that the sky was a very strange colour. (unfortunately, the camera doesn’t show this) I remember the time because my son and I went to the shop at a similar time and he said to me that the sky looked very apocalyptical, and it did.
The sky was a very yellow/bronze type of colour, it did seem and feel a bit odd because it was unusual. It seems to be travelling SSW and if you look carefully, there is some type of pattern on the edges that looks like a zebra camo’ pattern. You can also sea a load of seagulls in the sky to the left of the Triangle UFO.
KENS NOTE: Sometimes the camera captures what our eyes cannot see. Many camera capture photos are usually explainable and most seem to be camera lens flair but every once in a while we get the real thing.
In December 1965 onboard Gemini 7, astronauts James (Jim) Lovell and Frank Borman witnessed a UFO in space during their second orbit of the 14 day flight. Frank Borman reported seeing an unidentified spacecraft a distance away from their capsule .Jim Lovell’s communication with control reveals that they are seeing multiple UFO sightings and not the final stage booster of the Titan rocket used to launch them into space. Frank Borman stated that he could see the booster, and was also seeing something other that the final stage of the Titan rocket. January 11, 1966 started like any other mid-winter day in the small suburban town of Wanaque, New Jersey.
The air was clear and cold, kids were enjoying the holiday vacation from school, and residents of the Passaic County borough went about their usual daily routines.
Little did they know that before the day was over something would happen, something fantastic and unexplainable, that would change the lives of many of the townsfolk forever.
It all started in the early evening of that Tuesday night. It was about 6:30 PM, and the winter sun was already long gone over the western horizon, past the great Wanaque reservoir, and behind the darkened Ramapo mountain range.
Wanaque Patrolman Joseph Cisco was in his cruiser when a call from the Pompton Lakes dispatcher came over his police radio. It was a report of a “glowing light, possibly a fire.”
Then as if right out of a sci-fi movie Cisco heard the words:
“People in Oakland, Ringwood, Paterson, Totowa, and Butler claim there’s a flying saucer over the Wanaque.”
“I pulled into the sandpit, an open area to get my bearings,” Cisco recalls. “There was a light that looked bigger than any of the stars, about the size of a softball or volleyball. It was a pulsating, white, stationary light changing to red. It stayed in the air; there was no noise. I was trying to figure out what it was.”
Wanaque Mayor Harry T. Wolfe, Councilmen Warren Hagstrom and Arthur Barton, and the Mayor’s 14-year-old son Billy were on their way to oversee the burning of the borough’s Christmas trees, when they heard the reports that something “very white, very bright, and much bigger than a star” was hovering over the Wanaque Reservoir.
They decided to pull into a sandpit near the Raymond Dam at the headworks to meet Officer Cisco and get a better look at the ‘thing.’
The Mayor’s son Billy spotted the object at once, flying low and gliding “oddly” over the vast frozen lake “like a huge star.” “But it didn’t flicker,” Billy told reporters the next day. “It was just a continuous light that changed from white to red to green and back to white.”
“The phenomenon was terribly strange.” Mayor Wolfe would later recall. He described the shape of the unidentified object as oval, and estimated it to be between two and nine feet in diameter.
The next thing that officer Cisco remembers is his patrol car’s radio “going bananas,” as calls from all over a 20-mile radius flooded into the police headquarters. Cisco radioed Officer George Dykman, who was on patrol nearby. Just as Dykman received Cisco’s message, two teenagers came running up to his patrol car frantically pointing at the sky and shouting “Look, look!”
At that moment Wanaque Civil Defense Director Bentley Spencer drove up with CD member Richard Vrooman. “The Police radios are all jammed up!” Spencer said excitedly. Dykman and Spencer gaped at the sky along with Michael Sloat, 16, and Peter Melegrae, 15. “What the heck is it?” Dykman wondered out loud. “Never seen anything like it in my life.”
Back at the sandpit Joseph Cisco’s radio crackled as another unbelievable message came across the airwaves: “Something’s burning a hole in the ice! Something with a bright light on it, going up and down!” Then another transmission fought its way through the din: “Oh boy! Something just landed in front of the dam!”
Spencer and reservoir employee Fred Steines raced to the top of the 1,500-foot long Raymond Dam where they described seeing “a bolt of light shoot down, as if attracted to the water… like a beam emitted from a porthole.”
Patrolman Cisco, Mayor Wolfe and Town Councilmen Hagstrom and Barton climbed to the top of the dam to get a better look.
“There was something up there that was awful bright.” Hagstrom recalls. “We don’t know what it was. We thought it was a helicopter, but we didn’t hear a motor. It looked like a helicopter with big landing lights on. We got goose bumps all over when we saw where the hole was.”
According to John Shuttle, another Councilman who witnessed the UFO, there was no doubt about it: “It was there.” He said. “I saw it, a brilliant white object, two to three feet across, and its color – no, not color, shade – it kept changing.”
JANUARY 12, 1966
One day after the initial sightings of the UFO, Patrolman Jack Wardlaw reported seeing a “bright white disk” floating in the vicinity of his home in the Stonetown section of Wanaque, just west of the reservoir.
“It seemed like only a block away, above Lilly Mountain, maybe 1,000 feet up,” Wardlaw said. “Don’t ask me what it was. But I do know it wasn’t any helicopter, plane, or comet. It shot laterally right and left. It stopped. It moved up straight. And then it moved down and disappeared in the direction of Ringwood to the north.”
Wardlaw described the object as “definitely disc-shaped and at certain angles, egg-shaped.”
Sgt. David Sisco said that he was on patrol at about 6:30 that evening when the UFO noiselessly hovered into view.
“It glided, then streaked faster than a jet,” he told reporters, “and when it rose, it went straight up.”
Reservoir guard and former Wanaque policeman Charles Theodora and Sisco went to the top of the dam to take a look at the bright light.
“We looked across the water and saw a cylinder-shaped object,” Theodora remembers.
“It was moving back and forth like a rocking chair motion. We were astonished.”
A few minutes later the object shot straight up into the night sky, until it was indistinguishable from the other stars. Theodora said that he didn’t hear a sound while the light show was going on.
“I didn’t believe in UFOs, I thought they were a lot of bull. And then I saw it. It was a breathtaking sight; something I’ll never forget.” After the January 1966 sightings, radar was installed atop the reservoir dam. NOTE: The above image is real but from another case file.
First time I saw this object in the sky pulsating, was on May 2020. My youngest daughter was fascinated by this thing flying in the sky. I took a look and there I saw it, but I didn’t have a camera, it was gone in seconds. On October 27, 2020 at 7:46pm we were sky watching and we thought it was a satellite or a shooting star, but I didn’t know of any stars in that specific area and it behaved differently. I checked the sky app and confirmed it wasn’t. I believe this thing had so much energy of light it orbited around with it, and hovering around the sky and flashing. This continues for a few minutes. Then it made different shape, it formed itself like Saturn, like spreading that energy around. Then suddenly it’s like it was aware of us, quick flashes of camouflage it blurred the area around it and would reappear. I think it didn’t have enough energy and minutes later just flew away so fast.
I was the Captain of ((airline and flight # deleted)) on November 13, operating from Charlotte, NC to Harrisburg, PA. That flight departed the gate in CLT at 2017 local time. After takeoff, while climbing through an altitude of roughly 15,000 feet heading north, I saw an object out of the corner of my eye that then moved with very significant relative speed from the top of my field of view to at or below my perceived nighttime horizon, nearly vertically down with slight movement from left to right. It was moving at a speed consistent with a meteor, but white with no tail, and at roughly the horizon, it instantaneously stopped with no deceleration and changed direction, with no curvature of turn, to the north or northeast, roughly a few degrees right of our course. It disappeared away from our aircraft to the north in a fraction, maybe a quarter, of the time it took to move from the top of my field of view to the nearly the bottom. The light’s movement away appeared to me as a rapid dimming with slight movement to the right, which leads me to at the least perceive it as having rapidly moved away outside my range of sight to the north; that is how aircraft look as they disappear out of sight, albeit multiples slower. This entire event was a matter of a couple to a few seconds. The movement of the object from above to the horizon was roughly 1.5-2 seconds, the movement away possibly .5 seconds. This is an estimation based on perception.
With regard to our immediate interpretation of and reaction to the event, as well as my current opinion regarding it, I was immediately puzzled by what I saw. I said to my First Officer “Did you see that?”. His response was “Ya I saw that.” I said “that was not a meteor”, and he echoed that sentiment and said something to the effect of “It turned”. I then said “that wasn’t a plane either”, and my first officer agreed. We bounced ideas off each other for a few moments. During a quick shuffling of possible explanations in my head, an aircraft moving vertically toward earth had momentarily been an alarming one of them. But airplanes accelerate and decelerate, and when they turn, the turn is accomplished with curvature. They also have more lights than just bright white. This object moved across our entire field of view with great speed, instantaneously stopped with no deceleration, and shot off to the north, as if from a cannon. The angular change in direction was almost like a ! pinball bouncing off the bumper of a pinball machine, but with maybe the slightest pause as it made contact. Or a child’s bouncy ball bouncing off an angled surface dropped from above, rapidly changing direction to move laterally. It was not an airplane. We also discussed meteors, to include that we had both seen many meteors from aircraft throughout thousands of hours of flight time. The confident consensus was that the object had not been a meteor, for several reasons. First, and least compelling, was that they usually have a tail. This white, almost bluish white, object had no tail. More importantly, it would have been a meteor moving almost directly downward through our atmosphere with no flickering and no breakup. Beyond that, it would have been a clean, crisp, white meteor with no flickering, no tail, and no breakup, moving downward through our atmosphere to roughly our altitude before making a sudden and instantaneous, deceleration and acceleration-free, 90 degree turn to the north, disappearing faster than it crossed our field! of view It was not a meteor. After ruling out a few possibilities, it became clear that this object did not behave like anything either of us had ever seen while in flight. It showed no signs of being affected by an apparent enormous speed through our atmosphere, and it stopped and changed direction with seemingly no obedience to the Newtonian physics that we have such significant intuition for. Nothing I’ve seen, including fighter jets, change direction that sharply or move at that speed. We asked ATC, I believe Atlanta or Washington Center, if they had picked up an object rapidly descending in front of us. They mentioned an aircraft still above us slowly descending to another altitude above us. This was clearly not related to what we saw.
After several minutes discussing what we had seen, as well as the likelihood of us catching both flack and a drug test for a report of this nature, we both agreed that the right thing to do was to report it to air traffic control. We did that, and by that time, I believe Washington Center took my report. We also notified dispatch via ACARS message. We both possess copies of those messages. After providing that report, I thought to myself that the object’s path of motion had looked very much like a reverse checkmark, and I recall asking my first officer to draw the path he saw before communicating that specific notion to him. Whether I did ask or not, at that time he drew precisely that and handed it to me, the mirror image of a check mark, with the long side on the left, the short side on the right. We spoke about the object a few more times during that flight and trip, but we have not spoken about or corroborated our descriptions of the events we are both separately submitting, in order to not influence our individual recollection. On November 17th, an FAA UFO investigative team member contacted me through a member of company management and spoke with me before asking permission to pass my information to you for your organization’s investigative purposes. This report is submitted upon request from the subsequent contact. NOTE: The above image is real but from another case file.
Hi Ken : I had gone outside to put some cardboard into the recycling box when I just happened to glance up at the sky and spot an object that I could not identify as being any type of known conventional aircraft. The object was slowly moving diagonally through the sky below the clouds and it was definitely something unusual and anomalous. I immediately dropped the cardboard and went running back inside to retrieve my Nikon P900 camera. Luckily I had left my camera nearby on the kitchen worktop so I quickly grabbed it and immediately went running back outside into the garden where I could still see the strange object in the sky. The object was now further away from my position so I zoomed in on it and took a photograph just before it flew off into the distance heading in the direction of Torquay. I eventually lost sight of the object but felt very fortunate to have captured it in a photograph. I see these strange unidentified objects all the time around here. I am so lucky to live in an area where these objects are so prevalent. Hopefully sometime soon in the not too distant future, someone in the government will pluck up the courage to come forward and tell the general public what exactly these strange aerial objects are, and why they are allowed to fly freely around British air space completely unchallenged. The Photograph was taken at 1:27 PM on the 26th of January 2021, at Newton Abbot Devon England. All the best John.

On a quiet day in March, 1966, seven eyewitnesses reported an unidentified flying object maneuvering over Livingston and Washtenaw counties.
Ordinarily, these reports might have been dismissed by officials as the work of cranks. But this time, the seven witnesses WERE officials — police officers and sheriff’s deputies from the two counties.
And their stories were backed up by more than 100 witnesses, including William Van Horn, a civil defense director, and dozens of students who watched the football-shaped object for four hours as it maneuvered near the University of Michigan campus, a nearby airport and a local swamp.
The March 14 sightings caused an uproar and the area went on a wild UFO chase.
Three days later on March 17 two Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputies, Sgt. Neil Schneider and Deputy David Fitzpatrick saw three or four red, white and green circular objects oscillating and glowing near Milan about 4 a.m.
They called Willow Run Airport officials who could not confirm with radar.
Two more Washtenaw deputies, BuFord Bushroe and John Foster tried to follow the same type of objects in the northern part of the county on March 20. Livingston and Monroe county residents also reported seeing the objects.
The Detroit News carried the police chase story the next day along with a drawing of a quilted football shaped object with lights, dome and antennae. (It was not maize and blue with a big M on it.)
Dexter patrolman Robert Huniwell said he spotted an object in the sky at Quigley and Brand roads between 9:30 and 9:45 PM.
He said the flying object with red and green flashing lights, came close to the ground, hovered above a scout car and was joined by a second vehicle on its ascent.
Washtenaw County Sheriff Douglas Harvey ordered all available deputies to the scene. Six patrol cars, two men in each, and three detectives surrounded the area. They later chased a flying object along Island Lake Road without catching it.
Frank Mannor and his family saw the lights from their McGuiness Road farm. “I got within 500 yards of that thing and it looked pyramid-shaped. It had a light here and a light there and what looked like a porthole.
“It wasn’t like the pictures of a flying saucer and it had a coral-like surface. I’ve trapped every hole in this county and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Mannor said the vehicle, by its own lights, appeared to be the length of a car and had a hazy mist under it as it hung above the ground. Mannor’s son, a member of the Dexter High School track team, and Mannor’s wife also witnessed the object.
It rose up to the tree tops and waited awhile and fell back to the ground.
It became different colors, white on the ground, blue, then red in the trees, and then came down and changed colors again. It sounded like a ricochet of a bullet, and like a siren, a real high frequency, they said.
Police Chief Robert R. Taylor and Patrolman N.G. Lee came to the farm in response to Mrs. Mannor’s call and heard the noise.
“I thought it was an ambulance,” Lee said. The chief’s son, Robert, 16, also saw the red vehicle in the sky at about 10:30 p.m. “It was going on in the east pretty slow, and then it sped up and went west,” he said. “It was flashing red and white.”
Washtenaw County Deputy Sheriff BuFord Bushroe also observed it. “It looked like an arc. It was round. We turned around and started following it through Dexter for five miles. It was headed west and we stopped.
We lost it in the trees. Either the lights went off or it took off with a tremendous burst of speed. It was about 1,500 feet above the ground. It moved along at about 100 mph. We were doing 70 before losing it near Wylie Road.”
Carloads of college students from nearby University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University converged on the area after hearing radio reports of the sightings.
Mannor was asked if it could have been a college prank. He vigorously denied the possibility. “They couldn’t rig rigging to it. There was not anything there, There was no way in the world to get out. There were two scout cars on the hill and more at the house.”
“I know every pothole in this county,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it. There’s nothing wrong with my eyes and my son has 20/20 vision. We both can’t be wrong.”
“My wife says we’ll move out of here,” he said. “She doesn’t like that. I never lock the doors. Nobody ever bothers us.”
An Adrian College professor offered the theory that northern lights may be the objects the deputies tried to chase.
On March 22 dozens of residents of Dexter and Hillsdale reported more flying objects emitting strange sounds and lights.
On March 23 a teen from Monroe said he took photos, which looked like a big black blob.
The Air Force sent in Blue Book astronomer and UFO expert Dr. J. Allen Hynek who, after a whirlwind probe that lasted two hours and 45 minutes, dismissed the sightings as “swamp gas.”
Hynek quoted a description of marsh gases by Dutch astronomer Minnaert: “The lights resemble tiny flames, sometimes seen right on the ground, sometimes merely floating above it.
“The flames go out in one place and suddenly appear in another, giving the illusion of motion. The colors are sometimes yellow, sometimes red and bluegreen.”
“Marsh gas,” Hynek said, “usually has no smell, but sounds like the small popping explosions similar to a gas burner igniting. The gas forms from decomposition of vegetation. It seems likely that as the present spring thaws came, the gases methane, hydrogen sulfide and phosphine, resulting from decomposition of organic materials, were released.”
He also said youths playing “pranks with flares” added to the excitement. He dismissed a photo taken March 17 as a time exposure of the moon and Venus.
Van Horn, a Hillsdale native who grew up on the edge of a swamp, was outraged by Hynek’s findings, asserting that he knew more about swamp gas than Hynek did. He said Hynek ignored his reports that the lights moved and that there was a convex surface between the lights.
A fake photo was taken by Air Force investigator Maj. Raymond Nyls in March 1967 in an attempt to duplicate a photo taken by brothers Grant and Dan Jaroslaw of Harrison Twp. The UFO is actually a block of wood hanging by a string from a children’s swing set.
Van Horn, a pilot with a commercial rating, objected to the treatment of what came to be known as “the Michigan affair” by the Air Force, charging that “a lot of good people are being ridiculed.”
Hynek replied that he still believed that marsh gas was the logical explanation for these sightings.
Sightings of UFOs in the area continued, but these apparent copycat incidents seemed obviously fake. A Grand Haven man who reported a UFO landing near his home was not believed. Eastern Michigan University Police Chief John E. Hayes examines a Yipsilanti UFO that turned out to be a dry cleaning bag with a plastic cross on the open bottom holding several small candles.
On March 29 more sightings were reported over Michigan. Some from Macomb and Oakland counties, others from Bad Axe, Flint and Ann Arbor. Viewers included Richard Sober of Ann Arbor, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy, and Police Chief Ford Wallace of Linden.
In Washington the government was urged to release all information on the sightings.
In April Frankfort and Marquette joined in with sightings. The Frankfort sighting was identified as a marine flare.
The next year brothers Grant and Dan Jaroslaw of Harrison Twp, took photos of objects they claimed were flying over Lake St. Clair. A lie detector test failed to back up their story.
Hynek returned to Hillsdale but stuck to his original swamp gas declaration.
There were a few more sightings in 1967 in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Ypsilanti and Grand Haven. In February four Ann Arbor residents reported objects flying in formation. And in Grand Haven police confirmed the sightings.
Not much came of all the commotion. However the popularity of reporting unusual stuff in the sky to officials kept Selfridge Air Force base busy. By 1968, they were receiving two or three reports of UFO sightings per week. note: The top image is real but from another case file.
KENS NOTE: The main purpose of the Air Forces Project Blue Book was to debunk sightings. Even Allen Hynek admitted to this and he eventually started to believe. With the overwhelming evidence he had collected over the years, he became a true UFO investigator and said these things were real.
I have been searching for an explanation to a strange light that appeared in our bedroom over 20 years ago and have exhausted all conventional explanations. I’ll try to be as brief as possible without leaving out details. The incident was so out of the ordinary that it is burned into the memories of my husband and myself.
I woke up one night to the sound of our dog growling. A white light, roughly the diameter of a dinner plate, was moving slowly and randomly across our ceiling, much like a searchlight would. It was extremely bright, I would say self illuminating, and solid like a laser light, (more so, even) with no diffusion toward the outer edges. My first thought was headlights coming through the window, but the blinds were closed and there was no shadow of the blinds across the light. Our dog, who had always been oblivious to headlights flashing on the living room wall and loved playing flashlight tag, growled the entire time.
I watched it move like this for perhaps more than a minute, then reached beneath the covers to shake my husband’s arm (he could sleep through a bomb blast!) and he woke with a start, mumbling “What?” The second he spoke the light shot across the ceiling and down the wall, disappearing through the floor. I will note here the corner of the bed and the dresser were between the windows and the section of the wall the light went down, further discounting the source coming from outside.
“What the hell was that?” he said, now fully awake. To this day we both regret not getting out of bed and heading downstairs to investigate, but we were both so dumbstruck by what we had just witnessed.
My apologies for the length of this account, but I wanted to get all the facts in. I am grasping at straws now; I don’t know if this is UFO related, ghost related (they are the next ones I will check with) or what, but I would just like to know if others have had this same experience.
I’m not asking for an investigation, especially considering the lapse of time involved, but I would just like a simple “Yes, others have experienced this,” or “No, don’t waste our time with weird lights in your bedroom,” if you can manage it. NOTE: The above photo is real but from another sighting.
This case is under investigation by State Section Director Jack Nicholias of MUFON New Jersey.
Hi Ken: The morning sky was clear blue so without hesitation I ventured outside into the back garden with my Nikon P900 camera in order to sky watch and see what I could capture. I was looking east and it wasn’t very long before I spotted an object that caught my interest. As I observed the object I could see that it had the appearance of a cube with rounded corners. There also seemed to be three rectangular holes within the cube itself that could have possibly been windows. What really struck me as being odd though, was the fact that the cube was casting a visible black shadow in the sky, which was very strange, but this was probably due to an effect caused by the propulsion system of this anti gravitational craft. I quickly took some photographs and watched as it shot off into the atmosphere and disappeared from view. Unfortunately I only managed to capture the cube shaped craft in one of the photographs due to the excessive speed it was travelling at. In the photograph you can see the focus point of the craft that is visible as a white dot, high above it, slightly off to the right. A focus point is a distortion in space time, a “gravity well” that the craft is able to produce anywhere outside of it’s body in certain allowable proximity’s within the generated torus field, in order to focus it’s gravitational waves towards. This is in order to propel the craft away or towards the focus point by using the gravity amplifiers that are movable in any direction inside the belly of the craft. This focus point of distortion is obviously generated by an advance collider type technology within the perimeter of the craft. This is very interesting I only wish I could get my hands on technology like this. I am really envious of the American government having off world vehicles that are not made on this earth in their possession at the S-4 test site at Papoose lake Lincoln County, Nevada. If only the American government would lift this veil of secrecy and allow all the top scientists from around the world to work full time on this unimpeded. This would allow them to back engineer these crafts properly and fully understand the technology within them, finding practical applications for all of it a lot quicker in order to elevate humanity to the next level and become a formidable force within this universe. The Photograph was taken at 11:16 AM on the 14th of January 2021, at Newton Abbot Devon England. All The Best John.
While looking for Saturn/Jupiter in the sky, I saw something bright, which I thought was a star or planet. I took the picture and when I blew it up, it was a cylindrical mass falling from the sky. It left a trail behind which I could not see until I looked at the picture. When enlarging the picture further, it looked like a half a cylinder with a cored out middle. It was golden colored.
MUFON investigator classified this case as IFO–IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT…..SATURN
On Jan 5th 2021 1:34 AM CST a red-orange pulsating UFO emerged from the horizon tree line around Lake Powell, ascended to roughly 45 degrees above the horizon and continued east for roughly 2 1/2 minutes before disappearing in the middle of the sky. The pulsating object was not using standard aviation forward/rear navigation lights (red/green/white), and appeared “saturn-like” in shape when zoomed in with a super-zoom camera (Nikon Coolpix P1000). The weather conditions were 44 degrees Fahrenheit with 0 MPH wind. Flightaware flight tracking was checked and there was no aircraft in the vicinity. The object was recorded on both a Nest 1080p home security camera in night-vision mode, and a hand-held Nikon Coolpix P1000. Cropped and zoomed videos provided, full raw Nest cam footage available by investigator request. A single frame (@15 seconds) of Nikon Coolpix P1000 video footage is included to showcase the “saturn-like” shape of the orange object. Nikon footage is shaky due to zoom level and being hand-held without tripod.
At exactly 7:58 this evening, my dog started barking in an unusual manner outside. On our back deck at 7:59 PM I recorded 2 videos of what I perceived to be a fairly large aircraft flying very slowly, low over my house at first, then just over treetops from a 230* SW direction towards NW 316*. By the naked eye, it had three prominent white lights blinking together, alternating with a very bright red light, but in between that pattern there were other flashes on the craft and seemingly around it/beside it, unknown if this was another craft or attached to it (maybe larger than I thought). The videos, when slowed down, shows every color on the rainbow. I went inside after losing sight of it, but when my dog barked again 5 minutes later, I went back out to find it flying over my house again opposite the original direction, towards 178* S, where it went into the woods in National Forrest land- it disappeared from sight and I am unsure if it landed back there or if the mountain blocked my view. Glassy Mountain does have a landing pad on it and is in that general direction from here, unknown for sure. Its flight path was very smooth but not steady: slow drifting to the side, decelerating with several seconds of hovering multiple times, then accelerating again.
It was completely silent, during and after- no sound whatsoever. A very similar completely silent craft actually landed in the woods SW of my house, fairly close but on my neighbors property, on November 18, 2020 at 10:44 PM. Similar colors, flight characteristics. Other flashing lights are seen flying beside and around the craft at various points on different flight paths, not seen by naked eye. Dog also went crazy barking and tore after it that night, alerting me to its presence. Tried to check out that area the next day but no trespassing is strictly enforced by our friendly neighbor, so unable to reach area. Pictures above are still frames from the video. Someone talented in audiovisual effects could probably change the contrast and lighting and pick up on the actual form of the craft, but I am not that person.
