It was around 10:56 AM. I was standing in my backyard on the phone for about 1 min. During that time I looked directly above me which is common as I watch the birds, there were none. I immediately noticed a black circular or oval shaped vehicle soaring quickly, seamlessly & totally silently with no flashing lights or any lights. It was 1000% metallic looking but not a regular metal. It was not plastic. It was flying slightly higher or at the same height that the large birds do. (Apologies I’m not sure) it was low enough for me to see detail or would’ve heard if it had any sound. It had no propellers, no wings, no motor, no lights, it was super smooth & was 1000% not a drone. It was flying extremely smoothly in a direct line from east to west. It moved fast & flew over me in seconds.
I’m sane. I don’t see things. I’ve seen a few other things out here over the years, but I haven’t paid them any attention because we live near a facility that builds government aircraft. This wasn’t that. This didn’t move like something we do. Too low, fast, silent & seamless.

The UFO sighting was made approximately 300 miles west of San Francisco in the Pacific Ocean, on February 28, 1904. Three sailors on the deck of the USS Supply, including Lieutenant Schofield, witnessed the event at about 6:10 a.m..
They observed “three remarkable meteors” flying in a geometrical formation at high speed, first appearing from beneath the clouds, and then flying toward their ship in the Pacific Ocean.
The UFO objects were described as bright red and egg-shaped, with the largest being “about six suns” in apparent size. The objects then changed course, soaring upward above the clouds and moving away from Earth. The entire sighting lasted for over two minutes.
The UFO sighting gained credibility because it was officially documented at the time. Lieutenant Schofield, who later became commander-in-chief of the Pacific Fleet, was the most prominent witness to provide an account. The incident was published in the Monthly Weather Review and noted in the ship’s log.
Over a century later, no single definitive explanation has been agreed upon, leading to ongoing speculation. Some theories include:
“Hi, my name is [name removed per witness’ request]. A relative of mine found your website and advised me to send this specifially to you. The reason being is because, and i agree with her, that Rob (the November 2005 poster) and I may have captured the same object (or model?). This picture is from earlier this year, August is my best bet. I’m almost certain. I would remember the date had i known i had taken a UFO in it, but just as Robert i had not realized the image was on my camera. However in my case it was a few weeks later when i was cleaning out the flash card that it caught my eye.
“This took place in Jersey City, New Jersey. I had pulled over off the highway to buy some fruits at a very isolated fruit stand/store and i snapped a picture of this warehouse in the lot over. I can solemnly affirm to you that it is not a prank and that i did not even see it when i took the picture. In fact, i am about 95% percent sure that it wasn’t even there, as i’m certain that i would have seen it. I believe this is also more or less the case for Rob. This is image was taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XT and the mode was automatic and set for outdoors.
“Anyhow, this would not be the first time i’ve seen something like this. When i was 14 i saw a metal orb hovering over a shopping mall parking lot in this same city. As much as i tried to have my family see it,they could not. There have been other instances, too. This is just the first time i’ve been allowed to capture something as clear.”
In early 1967, military personnel working at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana reported seeing unidentified glowing red objects in the sky on different dates, sometimes hovering over ICBM launch facilities. On at least two occasions, the operational status of nuclear launch facilities went offline.
On March 16, 1967, Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander (DMCCC) Robert Salas and his commander Lt. Fred Meiwald were on duty at Oscar Flight Launch Control Center, near Roy, Montana, stationed in the missile launch bunker 60 feet underground. The two were responsible for monitoring and operations of ten Minuteman III nuclear Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs).
It was a clear, cold night with about three inches of snow on the ground. In the early morning hours while Meiwald was resting, Salas received a call from the Flight Security Controller, a Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of site security, who was stationed above the bunker. He reported seeing one or two bright objects moving in a sharp zig zag patterns across the sky. Salas initially did not give the report much thought, and told the officer to report back if anything of note happened. A few minutes after the first call, the NCO called with a more urgent tone in his voice, a said that he was now watching a glowing red object outside of the front gate. He described it as hovering, then flying at high velocity, and at times stopping abruptly and making sharp turns.
Salas woke up Meiwald and told him about the guard’s report. While Salas was briefing Meiwald, the status of six to eight missiles suddenly switched into “No-Go” (not functional) position. Salas thought they were under attack. Salas reported the incident to the Command Post and then phoned the security guard above ground for an update. Another of the security guards had sustained a minor injury when he tried to approach the UFO and was being evacuated from the base. Later Salas went above ground, and the security guard reported the the UFO had a saucer-shape, a red glow, and did not emit any noticeable sound.
A security patrol was dispatched to check the launch facilities, and they reported seeing another UFO while out on patrol, and that they lost radio contact with the base right after calling in their report of the UFO.
This incident at Oscar Flight Launch Control Center was not an isolated incident, according to Salas and other military personnel who were present in the area at the time. Earlier in the day, at Echo-Flight Launch Control Center about fifteen miles north of Lewiston, Montana, a similar strange event transpired. Multiple crew members witnessed a UFO, reporting that one had hovered directly over the Echo-Flight launch facility. Later, ten ICBMs switched to “No-Go” condition almost simultaneously. Strike teams were sent to survey some of the ICBM sites, and they reported seeing UFOs hovering over two of the sites.
In the weeks preceding March 16, 1967, civilians near and around Chester, Montana reported seeing strange glowing red objects in the sky, and personnel at the launch facilities north of Lewistown, Montana reported seeing a large, glowing UFO hovering over a launch facility.
The U.S. Air Force conducted extensive investigations into the non-operational status of the ICBMs, along with military defense contractors who worked on the systems at the facilities, with no official explanation provided.
Shortly after Hurricane Katrina caused terrible havoc to the Gulf Coast in August 2005, U.S. meteorologist Scott Stevens declared that the natural catastrophe had been generated by Russian scientists. This time around, he accused NASA of concealing data relayed to Earth by SOHO, an orbital solar telescope.
SOHO is a joint project by NASA and the European Space Agency. It is currently at a distance of 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth. The orbital telescope takes pictures of the solar flares and prominences as well as comets that fly past the Sun.
Several thousand photographs have been already taken. Some are posted on the NASA website. However, a larger part of them are still unprocessed by specialists due to an immense amount of data coming from SOHO. This is hardly surprising since researchers still have not had time to study thousands of photographs of the Moon, Mars and Venus taken by the U.S. and Soviet probes.
Rumors about UFOs being photographed by SOHO have been circulating for a long while. NASA would not comment on those rumors or blame irregularities during the transmission of digital images to Earth.
Scott Steven maintains he has analyzed all photographs available in the SOHO archives. He claims to have found several perfectly identical objects on the photographs taken during a number of years. Therefore, the researcher says, it would be only logical to point out that UFOs would have never been the objects of the same size and form if stardust or residual solar plasma had really caused those “irregularities.”
“I am confident that UFOs are flying in the vicinity of our star,” says Stevens. “I am talking about a fleet of UFOs operating near the Sun. I believe that both NASA and the U.S. government are aware of the existence of a certain civilization whose spacecraft are capable of resisting extremely high temperatures. The powers that be are simply afraid to admit the fact. They haven’t yet decided on the tactics,” says Stevens.
Another Stevens’ theory has to do with extraterrestrial activity involving UFOs near the Sun. According to the theory, UFOs are usually photographed by SOHO prior to large solar flares caused by some experiments conducted by aliens. *
On April 19, 1978, police officer Mark Coltrane was on patrol in the vicinity of Colfax, a small town with a thousands of inhabitants in Wisconsin, USA. At midday, he decided to stop the car to eat something, in a small isolated area. He noted that his radio was emitting crackles.
He then noticed a metalic looking disc raising towards the the sky at a short distance from the parking space.
While the object seemed to move towards him, Coltrane picked up his Polaroid camera, came out of the car and snapped some photographs. The object was so close in one of the images that it is possible to notice some details of its lower surface.
In [the second] photograph the object is starting to move away.
The total observation lasted a few minutes, the object being being lost from his sight when it accelerated and fled in the distance.
Coltrane, shocked by the sighting, remained in amazement for two hours without saying anything, by fear of being ridiculed when he would have to submit his report to his chiefs.
For the past 10 days, 11-year-old David Knutsen of Surrey has kept the biggest secret of his life locked inside his Kodak Instamatic camera.
On October 15, the freckle-faced Grade 6 student snapped a picture of what he is convinced was an Unidentified Flying Object, a round silver coloured craft that made a soft buzzing sound outside his apartment.
David was talking to a friend in an apartment complex when he said he noticed two RCMP officers standing in the building’s parking lot, pointing in the sky towards the east.
‘It just went round and round in a circle, up and down, and then took off super fast in the sky,’ David said in an interview today.
The UFO shot he took was the first picture on a 20-picture roll and David’s father, a construction worker, wouldn’t let him develop it until the other 19 pictures were taken.
David finished the roll last weekend and received his negatives Friday.
‘I wasn’t that excited honestly,’ said his father. ‘You know how kids are. I really didn’t believe it, but then I saw the picture and it was so good.’
The colour snapshot, taken at 4:00 PM after David returned home from Old Yale Rd. elementary school, depicts a circular, almost-black object with a sharp but narrow blue glow around its exterior. There were no other distinguishable markings on the craft which he estimated was about 400 feet away at its closest point.
The whole episode lasted only three seconds, according to David. RCMP Sgt. Arnold McPherson said today he didn’t know the names of the officers David claimed to have seen watching the object.
‘No UFO reports were filed by anyone in the police station and no one had made any mention of sightings’, he said.
An air traffic control spokesman at Vancouver airport said his log book showed no unaccounted-for objects on ATC radar screens on October 15.
The Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria also said it had no reports of unidentified flying objects that day.
Knutsen described his son as a boy with ‘an interest in UFOs.’
David said he had been reading library material on the mysterious craft but swears the October 15 sighting from his kitchen window was authentic.
‘It wasn’t no round airplane, I know that,’ he said.
A blazing white unidentified Flying Object which was described as roaring like a jet aircraft was reported by an RCMP officer in Turner Valley, Alta., two days before David claims his UFO appeared in Surrey . . .
David was unclear about the UFO’s size. He said it was roughly 50 feet in diameter but that its ‘super speed’ prevented him from being sure. The only light he saw was the sun gleaming off the craft, he said.“
Stacy Liberatore, US Science & Technology editor for the Daily Mail, published the following article on April 17, 2026 about a cluster of UFOs that flew over Wright-Patterson AFB on April 8, 2026. Since that AFB has been associated with UFOs and ETs for decades, we thought it was important to share her article.
A massive cluster of unknown flying objects was spotted near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a military installation long rumored to be linked to UFO activity.
Witnesses near the Ohio base captured the craft on April 8, showing a silent triangle of glowing lights moving in perfect formation before splitting apart mid-flight.
The lights appeared to drift slowly downward, flickering, pulsing and changing brightness individually as they hovered in the night sky.
Reports described the sighting as having “no sound, no standard navigation lights, movement unlike any known aircraft, drone swarm or satellite.”
The video was reportedly taken from Rainbow Lakes, a 60-acre outdoor recreational retreat in Fairborn, about four miles from the base.
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) has drawn renewed attention in recent months, as its research laboratory was previously led by retired Major General William Neil McCasland, who disappeared earlier this year.
McCasland, 68, went missing from his New Mexico home on February 28, reportedly leaving with only hiking boots and a .38-caliber revolver.
He led the Air Force Research Laboratory from May 2011 until his retirement in 2013, a facility long associated in UFO lore with alleged materials recovered after the 1947 Roswell incident.
On the night of 21 April 1991, the term ‘close encounter’ took on an altogether more significant meaning for the crew and passengers of a London-bound airliner. At 9.00 pm Captain Achille Zaghetti, who was piloting a McDonnell MD-80 aircraft, was amazed to see an unidentified flying object pass his aircraft as it flew over the coast of Kent at a height of more than 22,000 feet.
As the UFO was no more than 1,000 feet above the airliner, and the incident therefore classed as a ‘near-miss’, an official inquiry was launched by the CAA.
Approximately two weeks later the following brief statement was issued:
“The pilot said the object was light brown, round, three meters long, and did not describe any means of propulsion, “The aircraft was under the control of London air traffic control center who had no other aircraft in the vicinity, but consistent with the pilot report, a faint radar trace was observed ten nautical miles behind the Alitalia aircraft.
“Extensive inquiries have failed to provide any indication of what the sighting may have been.” But more was to come. The next incident to occur took place on June 1, 1991, when a yellow-orange cylindrical object, ten feet long, was seen at close quarters by the crew of a Britannia Airways Boeing 737 en route to London from Dublin.
Sixteen days later, yet another cylindrical-shaped UFO was sighted, this time by one Walter Leiss, a German engineer aboard Dan Air flight DA 4700 as it headed toward Hamburg.
Air traffic controller: “was it an aircraft?”
January 6, 1995, Captain Roger Wills and copilot Mark Stuart were beginning their descent towards Manchester Airport in a Boeing 737 twin jet with 60 passengers on board. Seventeen minutes before touchdown, a mysterious, triangular-shaped UFO flashed past the right-hand side of the aircraft at a distance described as being “very close” – so close, in fact, that the crew instinctively “ducked” in their seats.
This is an extract from the conversation between crew of the B737 and the radar controller. B737:
“We just had something go down the RHS just above us very fast.” MANCHESTER: “Well, there’s nothing seen on the radar. Was it an aircraft?” B737: “Well, it had lights; it went down the starboard side very quick [and] just slightly above us, yeah.” MANCHESTER: “Keep an eye out for something, I can’t see anything at all at the moment so, must have been very fast or gone down very quickly after it passed you I think.” B737: “Okay. Well, there you go!”
At 11:30 PM, the witness reports seeing a hovering object in the West on March 14, 2003. The object was first seen by the witness’ brother, who phoned and then came over three minutes later. The witness, her brother and her husband saw a bright light. The object was oval shaped with beautiful bright rotating lights of purple, red, yellow, orange, green, and blue. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I got so excited I had an asthma attack. I couldn’t stay outside. My brother stated, “It broke off into three small orbs but the original remained and they all hovered around and became one again.” The color of the small ones was orange. My brother shined a high powered light at the object and flashed five flashes three times. The fourth time he flashed six times, and the lights of the UFO flashed off and on. It was almost as though they were signaling back and then it zoomed away. And then four planes were flying in the area. Well, now I believe in UFOs because I saw one. NOTE: The above image is C.G.I.
“I and my mom went on the terrace of our home after having dinner. We were sitting there and suddenly my mom saw something hanging in the sky. The direction was east and it was at about 50 m away from the city radio tower situated at the fort. Time was around 21:40 night. She told me to look there and we stared at it for 2-3 mins. I stepped down to fetch the camera but just then it disappeared. Neither it moved nor it flied anywhere. It was like switching off of a big light on that dark place. The shape resembled a parachute but more appropriately an arc. There are no airbases or airports here. Even no sound was coming like that of a chopper or helicopter. The hanging object was emitting a kind of whitish-red light. There are no lasers or any other kind of lights in that part of city. When we surfed the net we found similar photos of UFOs which were sighted in Delhi in April,2014.
[ufo-hunters.com update on Sep. 13th 2014: witness sent more details and a video of a similar event] One of my friends told me that if that object is near the radio station then there would be high frequencies in that area and we checked our mobile radios and they did not caught any frequency. I would like to add a video which shows a same object like one we had seen. Also the continuous sightings of UFOs these days support my point. I can also compare it with a big pulsating bedsheet floating in the sky.”
Late in the morning, students noticed an unusual object in the sky described as a metallic, saucer like craft. Witnesses consistently reported that the object appeared to descend at high speed before hovering just above ground level in a nearby grassy area known as The Grange.
Students who ran toward the landing site claimed the craft was surrounded by flattened grass and emitted a faint humming sound. Some even reported seeing a second object circling above the first, suggesting coordinated movement. The consistency of these descriptions is one of the strongest arguments supporting the authenticity of the event.
Teachers who witnessed the phenomenon reportedly tried to maintain order, but the excitement and confusion spread rapidly. For many, this was not just a fleeting glimpse, it was a prolonged, detailed encounter.
The Mysterious Aftermath and Official Response
Shortly after the sighting, witnesses reported the arrival of military personnel and government officials. According to several accounts, students were instructed not to speak about what they had seen. Some claim that individuals in authority explicitly warned them to remain silent.
No official explanation was provided at the time, and the incident was largely absent from mainstream media coverage. At 11:30 PM on the 5th of August 1952, multiple U.S. airmen working at the Haneda Air Base observed a bright object for approximately 50 minutes. The object also appeared in on-the-ground and plane-based radar signatures.
On the night of August 5, 1952, Airman Third Class Lloyd West and Airmen First Class Walter Gutowski were walking towards the Haneda Air Force Base control tower when they observed an “exceptionally bright light in the sky to the NE of Haneda Air Force Base.[1]
As they reported for duty, they alerted Airman Second Class Walker Jackson and Airman Third Class George LeGasse to the presence of the object, which they had not observed until this point. Together, they watched the circular object through 7×50 binoculars for 50-60 minutes.
During this time, the object “faded twice to the East, then returned.”[1] They observed that the brilliant light was a portion of a larger round dark shape “which was about four times the diameter of the light.”[1]. They also noted that, as it drew closer, they could discern that a “smaller, less-brilliant light could be seen at the lower left-hand edge, with two or three more dim lights running in a curved line along the rest of lower edge of the dark shape.”[1]
The object appeared on radar, and an F-94 jet was scrambled to attempt an intercept, but it did not make visual contact. A C-54 airplane that was entering Haneda air traffic area was notified of the object, and the pilot replied that “it looked like a brilliant star and dismissed the sighting as such.”[1]

Mr. Yturria Garza has given SKYSCAN permission to use these pictures which were taken by Raul Garza who was taking pictures of the colossal fire on the Sierra Madre Oriental. “Suddenly an unexpected visitor appeared into the scenario. It was like an enormous neon tube illuminated with an intense white light” –says Raul.
According to Mr. Garza, “During the computer analysis of the original negatives, I and my research team didn’t find anything that could suggest that the pictures could be the product of an elaborated hoax and I can assure that Raul Garza is a respected and well-known person in this city, not interested in economical profits and popularity needs. “
Raul was using a tripod and the camera was in “program” mode. The telephoto lens has a range of 25/70 mm and was set to 70 mm.
To quote Mr. Garza: “Maybe you in the States don’t receive much graphic information about all what’s happening here but I can assure you that the activity seems to be getting stronger specially due to the fact that the main volcanos from Mexico City are very close to erupting.”
Caison Best and his 4 man United States Army Intelligence team were on their way to an intelligence briefing, when they all witnessed a UFO while they were on a hillside outside of the Cheyenne Mountain Military Complex in Colorado.
Caison Best was a United States Army Captain Ranger, a Special Forces Officer, and an Intelligence Specialist with top secret clearance. When this UFO sighting occurred, Caison Best was an Intelligence Detachment Commander for the 10th Special Forces Group.
Caison Best and his team saw a 300 foot long UFO that was a ceramic white color, had uniform pentagon panels, and was joined at the seams. The UFO craft was completely motionless and silent. They witnessed the UFO for 30 seconds and then they said it simply wasn’t there anymore. They are not sure if it took off at high speed or simply disappeared.
Caison Best says the UFO object was about 6 miles away. It was a clear day with no clouds in the sky.

In early 2026, somewhere in Portugal, a man woke up around 5 A.M., hearing a sound that didn’t belong. Not loud, just wrong.
He walked to the window, still half asleep, and froze, right outside, hovering low, was something massive, completely silent, almost like it had been sitting there the whole time.
Slowly it began to rise, lifting into the dim morning sky, and underneath it, strange symbols, clear enough to notice, but not understand.
Within moments, it was gone just before sunrise. Like whatever it was, didn’t want to be seen.
Congress has officially demanded that the Department of War release 46 secret UFO videos reportedly kept hidden from the public. The footage is said to show recovered alien craft and unexplained technology.
Experts claim these recovered craft were studied and reverse-engineered, giving rise to modern innovations such as microchips and cell phones. The implications suggest that some of the technology we rely on today may have origins beyond conventional human invention.

Detailed Description of the UFO Event: So my wife and I were driving from Santos to Paulista (Sao Paulo brazil), we got lost driving which led us off track and that’s when i noticed something stationery in the sky, it was very far away, but i noticed that it was stationary in the sky and was coal black. I observed it for roughly 10 mins until we stopped the car and got out to look, it disappeared and then I looked again and it was to the right of me, but the distant it travelled was insane. So anyways still unsure what it was I just kept my eyes on it, for like 20 mins or so, then it just vanished and reappeared and closer again. And then just disappeared.
My wife and I were amazed by it and excited. So we got back into our car and started to drive up this hill and a decline on the other side, but just as we reached the peak of the hill the Ufo came up up the other side and we jammed on the brakes and the object was literally in front of us and then rose 15 or 20 meters above us, slowly flew from the front of the bonnet over us, roughly the size of a single-decker bus or a bit bigger, it had a metallic shine and black as anything u could imagine, cylinder shape and both ends where smooth and flush, no windows or any markings of any kind, I notice this from the start that it was cylinder shaped and both ends were flush, the ting that keeps playing on our mind is that we didn’t arrive at our destination until 9 pm. The Russian navy has declassified its records of encounters with unidentified objects technologically surpassing anything humanity ever built, reports Svobodnaya Pressa news website.
The records dating back to soviet times were compiled by a special navy group collecting reports of unexplained incidents delivered by submarines and military ships. The group was headed by deputy Navy commander Admiral Nikolay Smirnov, and the documents reveal numerous cases of possible UFO encounters, the website says.
Vladimir Azhazha, former navy officer and a famous Russian UFO researcher, says the materials are of great value.
“Fifty percent of UFO encounters are connected with oceans. Fifteen more – with lakes. So UFOs tend to stick to the water,” he said.
On one occasion a nuclear submarine, which was on a combat mission in the Pacific Ocean, detected six unknown objects. After the crew failed to leave behind their pursuers by maneuvering, the captain ordered to surface. The objects followed suit, took to the air, and flew away.
Many mysterious events happened in the region of Bermuda Triangle, recalls retired submarine commander Rear Admiral Yury Beketov. Instruments malfunctioned with no apparent reason or detected strong interference. The former navy officer says this could be deliberate disruption by UFOs.
“On several occasions the instruments gave reading of material objects moving at incredible speed. Calculations showed speeds of about 230 knots, of 400 kph. Speeding so fast is a challenge even on the surface. But water resistance is much higher. It was like the objects defied the laws of physics. There’s only one explanation: the creatures who built them far surpass us in development,” Beketov said.
Navy intelligence veteran, Captain 1st rank Igor Barklay comments: “Ocean UFOs often show up wherever our or NATO’s fleets concentrate. Near Bahamas, Bermudas, Puerto Rico. They are most often seen in the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean, in the southern part of the Bermuda Triangle, and also in the Caribbean Sea.”
Another place where people often report UFO encounters is Russia’s Lake Baikal, the deepest fresh water body in the world. Fishermen tell of powerful lights coming from the deep and objects flying up from the water.
In one case in 1982 a group of military divers training at Baikal spotted a group of humanoid creatures dressed in silvery suits. The encounter happened at a depth of 50 meters, and the divers tried to catch the strangers. Three of the seven men died, while four others were severely injured.
“I think about underwater bases and say: why not? Nothing should be discarded,” says Vladimir Azhazha. “Skepticism is the easiest way: believe nothing, do nothing. People rarely visit great depths. So it’s very important to analyze what they encounter there.”
Meanwhile Russian Navy officials have denied the collection of UFO-related encounters exists. A source in the Navy’s service staff said the story may have its roots in the reports of vessel commanders, which describe locating objects of unclear but Earthly origin.
“An illusion of a UFO encounter can result from large fish shoals, floating garbage or natural phenomena,” ITAR-TASS news agency cites the source.
Photographer Ed Keffel and reporter Jọo Martins claim to have witnessed Рand documented with five famous photos Рa UFO near Barra da Tijuca, Brazil. The authenticity of these photos has been in question for years.
On May 7, 1952, at approximately 4:30 PM local time, photographer Ed Keffel took five photos of an alleged UFO above the beach community of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Reporter João Martins was present with him at the time. First published in O Cruzeiro magazine, the photos have elicited excitement, as well as skepticism, as to their authenticity.
Soon after the photos were published, the Brazilian Air Force investigated the incident. Their conclusion was that the photos were authentic. This investigation was not made public until 1959.
Authenticity Questions
UFO skeptics have long questioned the veracity of the photos. As part of the Colorado Project, William K. Hartmann analyzed the photos and concluded, “This case is presented as an example of photographs which have been described as incontrovertible evidence of flying saucers, yet which contain a simple and obvious internal inconsistency.”
Joao Martins’ Statement
Joao Martins, the reporter who was present at the time of the alleged incident and who was the first to spot the object, later wrote a personal statement about his experience. This was co-signed by photographer Kefell.
In his statement, he said, “I do not know what that object was, and because of this, I classified it in the category of “unidentified flying object”, commonly called a “flying saucer.” The incident, besides the annoyances it entailed, contrived to call my attention on the subject as an only advantage, and consequently I have done research on the subject with the greatest detachment, both in sightings here in Brazil and abroad.”
In response to critiques that the light source shining on the UFO in the photos does not match the surrounding landscape (especially in photo #4), Martin stated, “As to the position of the Sun and the shadows on the foliage, as seen in one of the photos of Barra da Tijuca, it is easy to confirm them. One need only go there; and it is easy to reach the spot, at the same hour and time of year corresponding to the fact. This, in fact, has already been done, back in 1952, by technicians of the Brazilian Air Force, as was later divulged in detail by researcher Cleto Nunes by means of TV and the Press.”
