1952 – Warrant Officer D.C. Newhouse, USN, obtained 16 mm color movies of a group of UFOs which he and his wife observed visually near Tremonton, Utah. At relatively close range, UFOs appeared flat and circular “shaped like two saucers, one inverted on top of the other.”
Mr. Newhouse unpacked his Bell and Howell Automaster camera, with 3-inch telephoto lens, from the trunk of his car and obtained about 1200 frames of the UFOs on Daylight Kodachrome film.
During the filming, Mr. Newhouse changed the iris stop of the camera from f/8 to f/16. The film was submitted to Navy authorities, who forwarded it to the Air Force at ATIC in Dayton, Ohio, where it was studied for several months.
According to Mr. Newhouse, frames of the movie showing a single UFO moving away over the horizon (hence providing some ranging information) were missing when the film was returned.
The hypothesis that the objects were out of focus sea gulls was considered by the Air Force, but could neither be confirmed nor denied. The report of Photogrammetric analysis by Dr. Robert M.L. Baker, Jr., Douglas Aircraft Corporation (which included a study of the 1950 Montana film) also examined this possibility. He states:
“The motion of the objects is not exactly what one would expect from a flock of soaring birds, not the slightest indication of a decrease in brightness due to periodic turning with the wind or flapping.”
Dr. Baker reports that no definite conclusion could be reached, but “the evidence remains rather contradictory and no single hypothesis of a natural phenomenon yet suggested seems to completely account for the UFO involved.” NOTE: The above image is real but from another case file.
Hi Ken : I had just arrived at Teignmouth, and I had just walked from the car park across to the railway bridge when I stop to take a photograph looking towards the railway station, where I was completely shocked to see an oval shaped object hanging still in the air above the station platform. I didn’t hesitate I quickly took a photograph with my Nikon P900 camera and looked on with amazement as the object just vanished from view. Had the oval object cloaked or had it dematerialized from our reality? Where had it gone? The object never moved, and it only appeared long enough for me to capture it in a photograph, which I found very strange. I got the impression that the intelligence in control of the oval shaped object wanted me to see and photograph it there stationary in the sky for some unknown reason. it’s a real mystery and one I really can’t explain. The photograph was taken at 4:12 PM on the 28th of June 2021, at Teignmouth, Devon England. All the best John.

We were having a bonfire and watching the stars. We were living in a cabin on 33 acres in the woods so there’s no light pollution. We saw a very large triangular craft with a small white light at each tip. I don’t remember whether they were flashing. It was massive and moved slowly over the Doug Fir trees. It blacked out all the stars behind it. It then stopped directly overhead. We were terrified and started yelling and running alternately under cover and back out to look. It then faded into the stars like it cloaked itself. That’s the last memory either of us has of that night. I woke up first in the morning, we were naked in bed (we don’t sleep naked) and our clothes were just strewn everywhere. I thought that was strange but I didn’t remember anything about what we saw. Over the next 10-15 minutes it slowly started coming back to me. I just sat on the couch thinking. After about an hour my husband got up and came out and asked why we were naked. I asked him if he remembered what we saw the night before and I watched it slowly dawn on him. We then just both sat there on the couch completely blown away. Our teenage daughter got up an hour or so later and we told her what we had seen. She pretty much scoffed at us but did say she’d heard us freaking out. I’ve always been a skeptic and I’ve never seen anything like that before or since. I didn’t have the sense that we had been abducted or anything, and we were never scared to be outside or anything like that afterwards. If anything it felt like it saw our fear and just…put us to bed. Humans take their clothes off when they sleep so it did that too. They tried to wipe our memory of the event but didn’t do a very good job. I’ve only recently started sharing my experience, and decided to report it because it was suggested to me that maybe it WAS an abduction and that is the part of our experience that was successfully blocked. I’ve heard about hypnotherapy and have considered it, though I haven’t been able to be successful hypnotized in the past. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
I was watching satellites go overhead from my back porch like I often do, and I noticed 2 satellites traveling across the sky very close together. I thought, “thats weird, 2 satellites together?” But then I realized I must be seeing the front and back reflective panels of a single satellite. Just as I thought this, the twin satellites were directly overhead when they did something I have never seen a satellite do. They rapidly slowed to a stop! It really did feel like my blood went cold! As I stood there dumbfounded, the hovering “satellites” instantly accelerated back to the same speed they had been traveling when I first saw them. They began to fly a pattern of oddly straight lines and instantaneous 90 degree turns. They would travel in a straight line for a second or two, then make an instant 90 degree turn! I mean, literally instant. They appeared to be traveling at the same speed of a satellite yet managed to make a 90 degree turn?? How?? I yelled for my (now ex) wife who came out to watch with me. While she kept her eye on the reflective little dots in the sky, I ran downstairs for my binoculars. I spent several minutes but could not find them. I went back to my wife and we watched these objects do probably 50-100 turns in this manner. Eventually they moved into a different area of the sky over the cascades where we lost sight of them. I originally didn’t report this because I thought people might think I was nuts. I don’t care anymore. I’m a skeptic, not a conspiracy theorist, spiritualist, x-files believer, or any of that stuff. But I genuinely believe that what I saw was an intelligently guided craft of some kind, not made on this planet Earth. I can’t believe all this stuff is actually real. I feel a little strange. I feel like I know something that everyone around me doesn’t. I will never forget that night. I’m really glad there is a group out there like you guys, cataloging these incidents. Hopefully our government will get on the ball and start doing the same thing. Thanks for your hard work MUFON! NOTE: The above image is CGI.
At about 16:30 in the afternoon of 19 July 1952, the attention of Customs Inspector, Sr. Domingo Troncoso, then with the Peruvian Customs Office at Puerto Maldonado on the jungle frontier with Bolivia, was called to a very strange cigar-shaped flying object over the river area.
The big dirigible-shaped craft was flying horizontally and fairly low in the sky, passing from right to left from the observer’s position. It was leaving a dense trail of thick smoke, vapor, or substance of some kind on its wake. The thick, whitish substance appeared to be emitted from the aft end of the object in flight.
That this object was a real, structured, physical machine may be seen from its reflection in the waters of the Madre de Dios River underneath it. It can be clearly seen to be well above the broad-leaved jungle trees along the bank of the river in the foreground of the picture.
The object was estimated to be over a hundred feet long. Sr. Troncoso obtained a camera and was able to get one good photograph of the cigar-shaped object.
The following was submitted by Colonel McHenry Hamilton, Jr., USAF, American Air Attache, Lima, Peru.
Aside from some comments by the preparing officer, the report consisted of a translation of a newspaper article in a Lima daily.
A “luminous disc” was supposed to have sped over the Puerto Maldonado area of Peru near the Bolivian border at 4:50 p.m. on July 19th , and among those who claimed to have witnessed the passage was a Peruvian school teacher who took a picture of the UFO, an object that was spewing an impressive wake of smoke. A newspaper account read in part:
“The colour of the head or nucleus of this disc was an intense orange. The direction was south to north, was visible from 1 to 2 minutes, leaving a thick vaporous trail which floated for more than 15 minutes. The altitude was more or less 2500 to 3000 feet. It was seen in broad daylight. During its passage, the Peruvian Corporation of the Amazon radio went dead and wasn’t able to transmit or receive any signals.”
“The Peruvian Minister of Education later held discussions with American Embassy officials about the UFO report. The school teacher’s photograph and an article about the discussion with the Americans was published in the August 15th issue of the Lima newspaper El Comercio.
“The American Intelligence report on the case seems to be incomplete because there is an unexplained reference to more than one photograph. Colonel Hamilton was informed by Peruvian authorities that some falsification had occurred involving “three different photographs taken by three different persons.”
In a letter dated August 10, 1957, Mr. Moseley gave NICAP the following account of the incident:
In Lima I met Senior Pedro Bardi, who is an agricultural engineer. On July 19, 1952, while on a farm in the Madre de Dios section of Peru, he and others saw a saucer. It was about 4.30 p.m. and they were talking to Lima by radio.
Suddenly, according to Bardi, the radio went dead. They looked out the window and saw a round object going by at high speed. (The witnesses included Pedro Arellano, owner of the farm). The object had passed; it was at an estimated 100 meters altitude and was a little smaller than a DC-3, according to Bardi. It made a buzzing sound as it went by.
The object’s speed, Moseley explains, was determined by a report that it was seen four minutes later near Porto Maldonado, 120 kilometers distant. This speed was computed at 1117 miles per hour.
The photograph was secured from a customs administrator named Domingo Troncosco, who said he had taken it as the object flew near the port. Though the photo shows a cigar-shaped object instead of the round shape Bardi described, this could possibly have been due to an elongated effect caused by speed.
“It seems obvious to me, Moseley told NICAP, that the photo is genuine.”
“Incidentally, I strongly doubt if this particular saucer was anything but earth-made.”
“The object traveled from left to right at about airplane speed. When the trail settled to ground it turned out to be a mass of thin fibrous threads.”
This UFO was filmed in Los Angeles on a balcony near the 10 freeway, about 1 mile east of the 405 freeway.
The UAP in the video was filmed at 8:12 pm. Not sure what its distance was, but it was so far that I couldn’t see it with my naked eye.
Found it by panning my Nikon P1000 camera across the sky to see if anything would come into view, was also meditating on letting my hand be guided to finding something that I felt was up there.
It mostly moved north while occasionally shifting east. I was trying to stay on it in the sky until I accidentally zoomed out and lost it while trying to grab photos of the Unidentified flying object. It was filmed on May 24th, 2021.
Another witness and I observed a large triangular craft hovering (or possibly moving imperceptibly slowly) less than 50 feet above the tree line. It was less than a mile south of the National Guard station on Avon Extended. It was about 2 am, and we were driving south. I was in the front passenger seat, and the object was on the right side of the road (the side I was on). At it’s closest, we were approximately 300 feet from it. I have absolutely no doubt it was an aircraft, but of what origin I don’t have a clue. We saw the object hovering above the trees. It was roughly 75 feet along each edge, and flatly horizontal to the ground. The actual body of the object was hard to discern in the dark, but I had the impression it was dark in color. As I think about it now years later, the lights stood out much more than the object, because of the darkness. There was a single, bright white light pointing straight downward at each vertex of the triangle shape. I would estimate the lights were a foot or so in diameter. Based on the light arrangement, one of the triangle points was oriented to the north. I have seen that people sometimes report a light in the middle or on the sides. I don’t recall anything but the 3 lights in the vertices. They remained white during the sighting. I don’t recall any sound, and I’m pretty sure my window was cracked. If the object was moving, we couldn’t tell. It might have been moving very slowly. We were both too shocked to stop, or take pictures. It might seem unbelievable, but we both basically said “what the fuck is that?” and just stared at it as we drove by. Yes, we did have phones with us. I’m still perplexed by why we didn’t stop or take pictures, but it was genuinely so unexpected that it took all mental capacity just to process it. The sighting lasted less than a minute overall. I’m not 100% certain of the date. I am guessing it was July 24, 2016, because this matches the date of video of a similar object taken over Charlottesville earlier in the night, and it is roughly when I remember the sighting occurring. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
The craft was matt black with a gloss black windshield witch I could not see into and did not see any beings. The bottom was off white and was illuminated and it had plates on the bottom and two round cylinders which emanated a heat signature. The craft was shaped like a crab but with abbreviated wings which were swept back and it was colored like a manta ray. I was on my way to work at 5 ish in the morning. I looked to my right as I was crossing the Harrisburg bridge and there it was level with the bridge about 150 ft away from the bridge. I guess it saw me looking at it so it dipped below the bridge and appeared at the other end of the bridge. Then it flew over the bridge and hovered over the water, on the left side or south side, as I caught up to it it turned around towards the south but when it stopped it’s rotation, it wobbled a bit then it slowly flew off south towards the Harrisburg airport but still level with the bridge. It happened so fast I wish I had filmed it on my phone but seeing something like that is so shocking, I didn’t want to look away because it could disappear at a moments notice plus I was driving so that was dangerous enough. A witness in Piedmont, Missouri, U.S. has reported sighting an alien entity on 24 May, 2013 at 11:10 PM. This report has been obtained from a testimony included in the database of Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), published on 26 May, 2013.
It reported to ASD by phone and the witness wishes to remain anonymous. The witness describes how he heard a strange sound. “I heard a strange humming sound outside of my house which is on 100 acres of wooded area near Piedmont, Missouri.” The witness describes what he saw, when he went outside to investigate the sound. He also talks about the color, direction and elevation of the object.
“I went outside to investigate what the low humming was and saw a large brightly glowing orange/red ball of light on the NE corner of my house, just above the roof line and approximately 15t. from the house.” He describes how it looked like a solid object. He also talks about his reaction and how he called his son to see it.
“It looked like a solid object underneath a halo of light surrounding it. I was standing about 30 ft. away from the object. I was in shock and stood there, frozen, while calling to my 36-year old son to come out to see it, which he did.” The witness then tells us how he and his son watched the object hovering in the same place for 20 minutes. He also talks about sighting more objects in the woods.
“We both watched as this object for about 20 minutes or so as it hovered in the same spot, wavering somewhat, then it moved to the Southeast and noticed that there were at least 10 more of these objects in the woods at and below the tree line about 100 yards from our position.” The witness further tells us how the object moved slowly towards the woods. “The object moved very slowly towards the woods, seeming to be unaware of our presence or not to care that we saw it.” He also describes his failed attempt to take pictures of the objects with his phone.
I tried desperately to get my cell phone to come on so I could take a picture but it would not work. I thought the battery was drained, but after the object was out of sight the phone resumed working.” The witness describes the humanoid being they encountered. He also tells us how it vanished.“There was a 4ft. tall humanoid being standing next to the tree and a little behind it. It looked greyish, but it was hard to tell in the darkness even though there was a full moon out. I just got a glimpse of it before it vanished.”
The witness talks about time dilution and how he realized that they had only spent a short time outside of the house. “When we got back inside I was shocked to see that it was at least 50 minutes to an hour later than when we went outside, as it seemed like only 20 minutes of time had lapsed.” The witness tells us how a helicopter followed the same direction of the UFOs as if trying to investigate.
‘Next, we heard a helicopter approach and looked out the window as it flew in the same direction as the UFOs. I have never seen a helicopter out here in my entire life. We did not go outside to look at it.” He describes how his son was approached by the police the next day to inquire about UFOs and aliens. “The next evening my son was in town getting some groceries when he was approached by two policemen. They asked my son how he was doing and if he believed in aliens or ever saw an alien. He replied that he did not.”
The witness then tells us how he and son did not recall the incidents of the previous night for a long time. “This event triggered the memory of the prior night and when he returned home he asked me if I recalled the same things he did, which I did recall, including the sighting of the being by the tree. We both found it extremely odd that we did not think of the previous night’s event earlier in the day, or that we were not more upset by it, and had not called anyone about it.”
The witness wonders how the police knew about the incident. He also tells us that his intention is not to gain publicity and he was scared by the incident. “How did the police know about this event? We spoke to no one about it. I called you to make this report in an effort to see if anyone else has reported anything similar but I don’t want any publicity and don’t want to talk to anyone else. The whole thing has me a little scared.”
The witness finally tells us that UFO activity in common in that region. “We have seen balls of light in this area before, and have seen unidentified objects, but nothing as close or as dramatic as this. My parents and grandparents owned this same land for many years, and they said that all kinds of weird stuff happened here but they did not talk about it much.” NOTE” The above image is CGI.
This object has been a reoccurring sighting almost every single night for the past few months it seems. Same thing same behavior, does strange tiny circles then stops then goes another direction very fast and immediately stops in place and repeats this pattern in varied orders but if you watch it long enough it will have made its way across long stretches of sky in time as if it is pretending to be a star to avoid being noticed.
That’s just my guess. Every once in a while you will see some sort of star like dot shoot at random angles from it but is so fast to the naked eye its almost impossible to notice unless using another form of viewing it. Some times will seem to split into two or more star like specs of light that almost immediately turn back into one light very quickly. Have observed through many forms of visuals via telescopes slow motion 4k videos and so on to get a better look at it. All the same rectangle like object that tilts side to side every once in a while as it is viewed as vertical oriented rectangle.
KENS NOTE: OVER THE YEARS I HAVE RECEIVED MANY UFO PHOTOS FROM SAN JOSE.
Philip Schneider was mysteriously found dead on January 16, 1996 after conducting several controversial lectures throughout the US, including Denver where he covered topics such as, Space-Defense, black helicopters, railroad cars built with shackles, extraterrestrials and the secret black budget.
Philip Schneider claimed to be an ex-government structural engineer who helped build deep underground military bases (DUMB) around the United States. He also claims to be one of only three people to survive the 1979 incident between the alien Grays and the US military at the Dulce, New Mexico underground base.
Philip voluntarily retired from the military after he disagreed with their spending, secrecy and unconstitutional actions.
His ex-wife, Cynthia Drayer believes that Philip Schneider was murdered because he publicly revealed the truth about the US government’s involvement with UFOs.
The following quote is from Philip Schneider from one of his lectures:
“I love the country I am living in more than I love my life, but I would not be standing before you now, risking my life, if I did not believe it was so. The first part of this talk is going to concern deep underground military bases and the Black Budget. The Black Budget is a secretive budget that garners 25% of the gross national product of the United States.
The Black Budget currently consumes $1.25 trillion per year. At least this amount is used in black programs, like those concerned with deep underground military bases.
Presently, there are 129 deep underground military bases in the United States”.
Philip Schneider recounts his encounter with extraterrestrials in the following excerpt:
“I was involved in building an addition to the deep underground military base at Dulce, which is probably the deepest base. My job was to go down the holes and check the rock samples, and recommend the explosive to deal with the particular rock.
As I was headed down there, we found ourselves amidst a large cavern that was full of outer-space aliens, otherwise known as large Greys.
I shot two of them.
At that time, there were 30 people down there. About 40 more came down after this started, and all of them got killed.
We had surprised a whole underground base of existing aliens.
Later, we found out that they had been living on our planet for a long time, perhaps a million years. This could explain a lot of what is behind the theory of ancient astronauts.”
“Anyway, I got shot in the chest with one of their weapons, which was a box on their body that blew a hole in me and gave me a nasty dose of cobalt radiation. I have had cancer because of that.”
“I didn’t get really interested in UFO technology until I started work at Area 51, north of Las Vegas. After about two years recuperating after the 1979 incident, I went back to work for Morrison and Knudson, EG&G and other companies. “
Philip Schneider released a lot of information pertaining to a supposed deep underground base under Denver International Airport as well. He said these underground bases were all throughout the US and they all were connected by a super highway.
Philip’s father Oscar Schneider was also said to have worked on secret government projects including the Philadelphia Experiment, which is the disputed story of the US Navy who supposedly made their large ship invisible for a brief amount of time. Philip and his family were reportedly harassed by government agents including his daughter who says she was being followed and monitored at school. Philip’s ex-wife Cynthia Drayer does not believe that he committed suicide. Here are some of her reasons:
1. “There was no suicide note.”
2. “Philip always told his friends and relatives, that if he ever ‘committed suicide’ you would know that he had been murdered”.
3. “From a number of sources, including his taped lectures (video and audio), and statements to his friends, and the borrowing of a 9mm gun, Philip felt that he and his family were being threatened and were in danger because of his lectures”.
4. “All of his lecture materials, alien metals, higher math books, photographs of UFO’s coming out of the Operation Crossroad A-Bomb, notes for his book on the alien agenda, were missing. (Everything else in the apartment was still there, including gold coins, wallet with hundreds of dollars, jewelry, mineral specimens, etc)”.
5. “No coroner ever came out to his apartment after his body was found (against Oregon Law) – and a police investigation never took under consideration that items were missing from his apartment – it was considered a suicide, plain and simple”.
Schneider’s death is still a mystery, there are reports that he committed suicide and reports that he was found tortured with piano wire around his neck. There are other reports suggesting that he had a stroke or a heart attack.
No one may ever know the truth of Schneider’s claims but there is no doubt that he was an interesting figure and that he had some very disturbing and controversial things to say.
I was the third truck of four, that were running together. We left Oakland after a concert we were touring with, headed to San Diego. At about 3am I happened to see a light shine out across in front of us maybe two miles or so ahead of us on the right, and it went out. I didn’t think much of it. I thought at first someone was shinning deer. Than I saw a beam shine downward but didn’t see anything else. The origin of the light looked to be about 100ft above the ground. Then it went out. Then you could see white marker lights as it crossed the 5 and turned north on the other side and came at us. Before it reached us it turned back and went south and crossed back over the 5 to the west and the lights all went out and I couldn’t see it anymore. The fella in the truck in front of said he saw it off the the right just sitting there hovering. I saw light shinning in my passenger side window coming at me from a little behind me. I thought it was going to slam into the side of my tractor. It came straight at me. There were three very bright white lights across the front edge ot this thing, shinning right into my side window. It came to almost a complete stop, rotated tipped up on its edge and slid over the top of my tractor, and out over the front of my windshield. When we stop later that morning, and I stopped my video cameras to go back over that segments to see if it got recorded. I didn’t think it would catch it, because the cameras are set to look down out over the hood of my truck to the road in front of me. I would estimate that craft was about 30 to 50 feet above the truck in front of me. With a high degree of certainty it would say that this thing was about 14ft at it widest point, probably close to 20ft long. My tractor is 19.5ft long and 13.4ft tall. As it came over and out into view I got a really good look at it (see drawing) the edge of this was slightly larger than the light placement on the underside. Interstate lanes are 12ft x2 plus 11ft for both shoulders, that’s a total of 35ft. This was just a little larger than a single lane. Smallest Cessna has a 32ft wing span, and crop dusters are 34ft. this was no plane. It had no visible propulsion system. It could be a new military style drone but can drones hover without propellers or a fan system? More to the point, why would the military put people on the highway at risk. I’m still baffled that there is absolutely no light flash in my cab when it came at me. Should have seen the inside of my cab light up in the video. Just another strange aspect. I would have to say my buddies where really excited over this event, trying to put it into some kind of contexts. I tried to tell them you can’t. You’ll always have this with you, wondering what it was. I told them this was the third time I’ve had events in very close proximity with aerial phenomena, and it wasn’t even the strangest, and if you tell it to people that have never experience something like this, they’ll tell you, what you saw, isn’t what you saw. When we first saw it and it crossed the 5 heading east, a couple miles ahead of us. Had it kept going straight, it just would have been a low flying airplane under 500ft. At night! The map that’s attached gives context to what interaction occurred. The circle up by the Chevron Station is roughly where we were when I first saw the light shoot out to the east.
KENS NOTE: I EXTRACTED THE TOP IMAGE FROM THE VIDEO.
During the dawn of Ufology in the United States, unidentified flying objects made themselves known to the leaders of the free world in 1952, buzzing over the White House, the Capitol building, and the Pentagon.
Seemingly the unknown objects were defying the very governmental agencies sworn to protect the United States from foreign powers.
Washington National Airport and Andrews Air Force Base picked up a number of UFOs on their radar screens on July 19, 1952, beginning a wave of sightings still unexplained to this day.
These blips were objects traveling at about 100 M.P.H. but with the ability to accelerate to the unbelievable speed of 7,200 M.P.H.
The Washington National sighting was confirmed by other local radar, and then Andrews Air Force Base was contacted.
Andrews Tower, do you read? Did you have an airplane in sight west-northwest or east of your airport moving east-bound?
Andrews: No, but we just got a call from the center. We’re looking for it.
Washington: We’ve got a big target showing up on our scope. He’s just coming in on the west edge of your airport-the northwest edge of it eastbound. He’ll be passing right through the northern portion of your field on an east heading. He’s about a quarter of a mile from the northwest runway-right over the edge of your northwest runway now.
Andrews: What happened to your target now?
Washington: He’s still eastbound. He went directly over Andrews Fields and is now five miles east.
Andrews: Where did he come from?
Washington: We picked him up ourselves at about seven miles east, slightly southeast, and we have been tracking him ever since then. The Center has been tracking him farther than that.
Andrews: Was he waving his course?
Washington: Holding steady course, due east heading.
Andrews: This is Andrews. Our radar tracking says he’s got a big fat target out here northeast of Andrews. He says he’s got two more south of the field.
Washington: Yes, well the center has about four or five around the Andrews Range station. The Center is working a National Airlines – the center is working him and vectoring him around his target. He went around Andrews. He saw one of them – looks like a meteor. (Garbled)… Went by him… or something.
He said he’s got one about three miles off his right wing right now. There are so many targets around here it is hard to tell as they are not moving very fast.
Andrews: What about his altitude?
Washington: Well, must be over 8,000 feet as we don’t have him in radar any more.
Andrews Air Force Base notified the U.S. Air Force Air Defense Command. A couple of F-94 night fighters were ordered to the skies, but runway repairs held their mission up for several hours. By the time they were airborne, the mysterious objects were gone.
The fighters returned home, but soon the objects again showed up on the radar screens. For the next several hours, the fighters chased the illusive targets, but to no avail.
They were able to sight the UFOs, but lights of the unknown objects would darken as they were approached. Constant communication was kept with ground radar, and as the pilots lost sight of the UFOs, they also disappeared from ground radar. The UFOs were also separately witnessed by the crew of a B-29, and other commercial flights.
After a quiet week, the objects reappeared on July 26. After multiple radar operators confirmed the objects, the F-94s again began their search for the enigmatic lights over Washington. The results of their pursuit were identical to the week before. They could see the lights, but when they drew near, the lights would blackout.
After their fruitless journey, the planes returned home, only to hear that the objects again were being tracked by radar. One of the pilots stated his fear and frustration by air to ground radio.
“They’ve surrounded my plane, what should I do?” The phenomenal sights would bring about an Air Force press conference on July 29, with Major General John A. Samford in charge.
The official explanation was “temperature inversions,” which supposedly caused ground lights to bounce off of clouds, giving the appearance of lighted craft in the skies. The naive and trusting press accepted this explanation at first, in lieu of any other “reasonable” one.
This explanation was scoffed at, however, by Ufologists, knowing that it just did not explain what was seen by pilots and radar operators. Even Project Bluebook would also dismiss the “temperature inversion” explanation, as it later labeled the Washington sightings as “unknown.”
The radar operators offered their own reason for the rejecting the Air Force explanation. Radar controller Barnes would state, “Inversion blips are always recognized by experts, we are familiar with what weather conditions, flying birds, and [other] such things can cause on radar.
Temperature inversions on radar are typically weak returns and move at a slow ground speed. These blips were distinctly clear, reported as a very good return, solid and often traveled at unbelievable speeds.”
The Washington D. C. sightings are a solid case of UFO activity. Literally hundreds of eyewitnesses saw the objects, and photographed them. Many of these were Air Force personnel, considered as reliable. Many of them made comment of the sightings, one was a Sergeant Harrison: “I saw the … light moving from the Northeast toward the range station.
These lights did not have the characteristics of shooting stars. There were no trails and seemed to go out rather than disappear, and traveled faster than any shooting star I have ever seen.” The sightings continued throughout the month of July.

“Saucer” outran jet, pilot reveals
Investigation on in secret after chase over capital
Radar spot blips like aircraft for nearly six hours – only 1,700 feet up
By Paul Sampson, Post Reporter
Military secrecy veils an investigation of the mysterious, glowing aerial objects that showed up on radar screens in the Washington area Saturday night for the second consecutive week.
A jet pilot sent up by the Air Defense Command to investigate the objects reported he was unable to overtake the glowing lights moving near Andrews Air Force Base.
The CAA reported the objects traveled at “predominantly lower levels” – about 1700 feet. July 19.
Air Force spokesmen said yesterday only that an investigation was being made into the sighting of the objects on the radar screen in the CAA Air Route Traffic Control Center at Washington National Airport, and on two other radar screens . Methods of the investigations were classified as secret, a spoken said.
“We have no evidence they are flying saucers; conversely we have no evidence they are not flying saucers. We don’t know what they are,” a spokesman added.
The same source reported an expert from the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio, was here last week investigating the objects sighted July 19.
The expert has been identified as Capt. E. J. Ruppelt. Reached by telephone at his home in Dayton yesterday, Ruppelt said he could make no comment on his activity in Washington.
Capt. Ruppelt confirmed he was in Washington last week but said he had not come here to investigate the mysterious objects. He recalled he did make an investigation after hearing of the objects, but could not say what he investigated.
Another Air Force spokesman said here yesterday the Air Force is taking all steps necessary to evaluate the sightings. “The intelligence people,” this spokesman explained, “sent someone over to the control center at the time of the sightings and did whatever necessary to make the proper evaluation.
Asked whether the radar equipment might have been malfunctioning, the spokesman said, “radar, like the compass is not a perfect instrument and is subject to error.” He thought, however, the investigation would be made by persons acquainted with the problems of radar.
Two other radar screens in the area picked up the objects. An employee of the National Airport control tower said the radar scope there picked up very weak “blips” of the objects. The tower radar’s for “short range” and is not as powerful as that at the center. Radar at Andrews Air Force Base also registered the objects from about seven miles south of the base.
A traffic control center spokesman said the nature of the signals on the radar screen ruled out any possibility they were from clouds or any other “weather” disturbance.
“The returns we received from the unidentified objects were similar and analogous to targets representing aircraft in flight,” he said.
The objects, “flying saucer or what have you, appeared on the radar scope at the airport center at 9:08 PM. Varying from 4 to 12 in number, the objects appeared on the screen until 3:00 AM., when they disappeared.
At 11:25 PM., two F-94 jet fighters from Air Defense Command squadron, at New Castle Delaware, capable of 600 hundred mph speeds, took off to investigate the objects.
Airline, civil and military pilots described the objects as looking like the lit end of a cigarette or a cluster of orange and red lights.
One jet pilot observed 4 lights in the vicinity of Andrews Air Force Base, but was not able to over-take them, and they disappeared in about two minutes.
The same pilot observed a steady white light in the vicinity of Mt Vernon at 11:49 PM. The light, about 5 miles from him, faded in a minute. The lights were also observed in the Beltsville, MD., vicinity. At 1:40 AM two-other F-94 jet fighters took off and scanned the area until 2:20 AM., but did not make any sightings.
Visible two days
Although “unidentified objects” have been picked up on radar before, the incidents of the last two Saturdays are believed to be the first time the objects have been picked up on radar-while visible to the human eye.
Besides the pilots, who last Saturday saw the lights, a woman living on Mississippi Ave., told the Post she saw a very “bright light streaking across the sky towards Andrews Air Force Base about 11:45 PM. Then a second object with a tail like a comet whizzed by, and a few seconds later, a third passed in a different direction toward Suntland, she said.
Radar operators plotted the speed of “Saturday night’s visitors” at from 38 to 90 mph, but one jet pilot reported faster speeds for the light he saw.
The jet pilot reported he had no apparent “closing speed” when he attempted to reach the lights he saw near Andrews Air Force Base. That means the lights were moving at least as fast as his top speed-a maximum of 600 mph.
One person who saw the lights when they first appeared in this area did not see them last night. He is E.W. Chambers, an engineer at Radio Station WRC, who spotted the lights while working early the morning of July 20 at station’s Hyattsville tower.
Chambers said he was sorry he had seen the lights because he had been skeptical about “flying saucers” before. Now he said, he sort of “wonders” and worries about the whole thing.
Leon Davidson, 804 South Irving St. Arlington, a chemical engineer who made an exhaustive study of “flying saucers” as a hobby, said yesterday reports of saucers in the East, have been relatively rare.
Davidson has studied the official report on the saucers, including some of the secret portions never made public, and analyzed all the data in the report.
Davidson, whose study of saucers is impressively detailed and scientific, said he believes the lights are American “aviation products” – probably “circular flying wings,” using new type jet engines that permit rapid acceleration and relatively low speeds. He believes they are either “new fighter,” guided missiles or piloted guided missiles.
He cited some of the recent jet fighters, including the Navy’s new “F-4-D, which has a radical “bat-wing,” as examples of what the objects might resemble.
Davidson thinks the fact that the lights have been seen in this area indicates the authorities may be ready to disclose the “new aircraft” in the near future. Previously, most of the “verified saucers” have been seen over sparsely inhabited areas, Davidson explained, and now, when they appear here, it may indicate that “secrecy” is not so important any more.
KENS NOTE: I feel this is the biggest smoking gun available for alien craft presence on earth. This case was debunked by the Air Force and apparently it was lies on top of lies. This case make Roswell look like small potatoes.
August 1, 1952 -The United States Coast Guard released a photograph of an unidentified aerial phenomena. The photograph was taken by a 21-year-old Coast Guard photographer on 16 July, at the Salem Coast Guard Air Station.
Coast Guard Officer Shell R. Alpert snapped the photograph of what appears to be four UFOs. The UFOs were also witnessed by Coastguardsman Thomas Flaherty. This photograph has become one of the most recognized pictures in Ufology.

Mission….The air station’s missions included search and rescue, law enforcement, counting migratory waterfowl for the U.S. Biological Survey, and assisting icebound islands by delivering provisions. During World War IIanti-submarine patrols were also conducted from the air station.
One of the most controversial radar visual reports of the fifties occurred on August 31st, 1954. The story leaked out in December, 1954, and made front page headlines.
The official navy file on the event remained classified until the Directorate of Naval Intelligence released a copy upon my request in 1982.
During his 1973 visit to Australia, Dr. Hynek was able to interview the pilot involved in this famous incident, which became known as the “Sea Fury” encounter.
Dr. Hynek made his notes on this interview available to me during my 1984 visit to the Chicago headquarters of his organisation, the Centre for UFO Studies (CUFOS). I, in turn, provided Dr. Hynek with a copy of the official file on the incident.
Lieutenant J.A. O’Farrell was returning to Royal Australian Navy Air Station Nowra after a night cross country in a Sea Fury aircraft. After contacting Nowra at about 1910 hours, O’Farrell saw a very bright light closing fast at one o’clock.
It crossed in front of his aircraft taking up position on his port beam, where it appeared to orbit.
A second and similar light was observed at nine o’clock. It passed about a mile in from of the Sea Fury and then turned in the position where the first light was observed.
According to O’Farrell, the apparent crossing speeds of the lights were the fastest he had ever encountered. He had been flying at 220 knots. O’Farrell contacted Nowra who in turn confirmed that they had two radar “paints” in company with him.
The radar operator, Petty Officer Keith Jessop, confirmed the presence of 2 objects near the Sea Fury on the G.C.I. remote display.
The two lights reformed at nine o’clock and then disappeared on a north easterly heading. O’Farrell could only make out “a vague shape with the white light situated centrally on top.”
The Directorate of Naval Intelligence at the time wrote that O’Farrell was “an entirely credible witness” and that he “was visibly ‘shaken’ by his experience, but remains adamant that he saw these objects”
In a recent interview, “Shamus” O’Farrell described the incident:
“I said, “Nowra, this is 921. Do you have me on radar?” “And a few seconds later they came back and said, “Affirmative 921. We have you coming in from the west. We have another two contacts as well. Which one are you.” “I said, “I think I’m the central one.”
And so they said, “Do a 180…for identification.” So I did a quick 180 and then continued on around and made it a 360 back to where I was going.
“They said, “Yes, we’ve got you. You’re the centre aircraft.” I said that’s correct. They then said to me, “Who are the other two aircraft,” and I said, “I don’t know. I was hoping you would tell me, because I didn’t think there was anyone up here. “They said, “Well there shouldn’t be, and they certainly shouldn’t be that close to you.”
“So the conversation went on like this and I was very pleased to be talking to somebody because it gave me a lot of reassurance. With that these two aircraft came in quite close to me and I could really see the dark mass and that they were quite big, but I couldn’t make out any other lights or any other form of an aircraft. With that they took off and headed off to the north east at great speed.
“I was about to press the button and tell them at Nowra that the two aircraft were departing when Nowra called me up and said, “The other two aircraft appear to be departing at high speed to the north east. Is that correct?” and I said, “Yes!”. And they said, “Roger, we’ll see if we can track them.”
They tracked them for a while and then lost them. “I came in and landed at 7.30 (1930) and when I got there there were quite a few people waiting for me. I thought it was a bit strange and so they came over, and they said, “You sure you had aircraft out there!” and I said yes.
The Surgeon Commander came over and spoke to me. He said did I feel sick, or was I upset. I said no. He ran his hand over my head to see whether I had any bumps. He had a look at me and decided I was okay. So then he said, “Perhaps you’d like to come to the sick bay after you’ve changed and we’ll do an examination.”
So after I was finished I went up to sick bay and he gave me a more thorough medical, and said, no, I appeared to be alright. I found out later, that at the same time, they checked to make sure I hadn’t been drinking before I took off and all that sort of thing.”
During this interview, Dr. Hynek’s involvement came up:
“This man (Hynek) – a professor – had made a study of thousands of sightings all around the world and he had decided my sighting was one of those that he had not been able to explain away by other means.
Any way I had a talk with him. He was a very interesting chap and he made the comment that there were about 13 or 15, I don’t remember, sightings that he was aware of over the years that were like mine and could not be explained away. The interesting thing he said was that all of these sightings had been made by professional people in aviation.
By that he meant they were military pilots, military air crew, civil aviation operators, air traffic controllers, and the like, or airline pilots. These were the ones he was now (1973) going around meeting the people themselves and investigating.
All the others he had written off and had been able to explain down to some other phenomena. It came to the point where he said, “Your sighting cannot be explained away.” And he left it at that. To this day I wouldn’t know where it came from or where it went.”
I have had the opportunity to talk extensively with Shamus O’Farrell. I was particularly interested in how the interview with Dr. Hynek in 1973 came about:
“It was done through Sir Arthur Tange, who was secretary of the Department of Defence at the time. Hynek contacted him direct… Sir Arthur Tange contacted me and said Hynek was coming out. He had written to him, through the US Embassy, to set up a meeting.
And the next thing I knew I had a telephone call one day from Sir Arthur Tange saying that Hynek was coming and he would like me to met him. I said, well, I haven’t got all the facts, there all a bit hazy. So he sent me the two Defence Department files over to read, to refresh it all.”
Bill Chalker: “That seems to indicate a high level of interest in Hynek’s visit at the time?”
“Yes, well, I don’t think so. All that happened was that it was more of a courtesy because he was a very important guy, Hynek, and they wanted to show him the courtesies etc. As far as Defence was concern it was dead and forgotten but they had not got rid of the files. They kept them.
Normally when files like that are written off they are either decided they’ll put them in Archives or dispose of them and destroy them. But they had done neither. They had remained in the JIO. They’d kept them. I don’t know what they had in mind about it, I never questioned it. I just used them as a means to refresh my memory.
“Later the guy who became the chief Defence scientist, John Farrands, was very interested in it too, and he had done a lot of early investigations in most of the reports when he was chief defence scientist and in the period just before he became chief defence scientist. He had a talk with me.
I was a friend of his. I used to meet with him at lunch. He went over it in great detail. He knew it all. He agreed it was something that couldn’t be refuted. No matter how hard they tried, and they tried very hard to knock it all back. They checked everything from medical, down to when was the last time I had had a drink…”
Bill Chalker: “That must have been a bit of a concern to you?”
“Well, I wanted to hush it all up. That sort of investigation made me look a bit of a fool. I was worried it wasn’t going to do my career any good. “(Apart from the radar witness) it locked in a sighting over the NDB (non directional beacon) at Narulan, at the same time. There happened to be a guy working on the NDB.
It was down at the time.
He had gone to repair it. He happened to look up at the time because he saw these lights fly overhead. Also the air traffice control officer in the tower at Mascot saw them approaching him. “It was all investigated by the then RAAF guy who did it and later it was also investigated by the Joint Intelligence Bureau.”
In 1993 I assisted The Extraordinary television programme with a recreation of the Sea Fury incident. Shamus O’Farrell, Keith Jessop and I were interviewed on the show. The case stands as one of the best unexplained radar visual UFO cases on record in Australia. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
On May 31 I was watching the sunset and saw two lights crossing the Northern Plains Inn. Then shortly thereafter a swarm chasing it and as they the two objects change direction the swarm followed after. This is an interesting video, but I wish we had more information. I don’t believe I have ever seen that many objects moving that fast. Any ideas? SEE WHOLE VIDEO HERE https://youtu.be/k3a-vQcYDRU
KENS NOTE: MUFON thinks it may be jets or commercial drones…..what ?????
A heat wave from a flying saucer! A Sci-fi movie scenario? well, not really. The following account still stands as one of the best “physical trace” cases in UFO lore. The United States Air Force certainly took it seriously, and so should we.
Scoutmaster, D.S. “Sonny” DesVergers of West Palm Beach, Florida was driving three scouts home on the night in question. He turned off the coastal highway and down an inland blacktop to go where one of the boys lived.
After traveling about ten miles inland he noticed a bright light in the palmetto thickets.
At first he passed by it, but then stopped down the road and turned the car around to go back. He hesitated in doing this, but could not help feeling that the light might have been a fire, perhaps indicating a crashed airplane.
DesVergers stopped the car, and got out to proceed to the scene of the bright lights. The scouts objected, afraid to be alone in the darkness, but the Scoutmaster headed toward the thick brush not far from the road. Nearby were the swamps, full of snakes, alligators, and who knows what other deadly creatures. About 50 yards or so from the road, Des Verges disappeared into the waist-high thicket. As he did, the first thing he noticed was a terrible odor.
Using his machete to clear his way with one hand, his other held his flashlight to show the way through the darkness. He carried a second flashlight on his person. The boys, waiting in the car, could clearly see the beam of their Scoutmaster’s flashlight through the brush.
Knowing he was being tracked by his flashlight, he shined it up into the canopy of some of the trees as he proceeded toward the unknown source of the lights that had caused him to stop on the road.
As he reached an opening in the brush, he paused momentarily to signal back to the waiting boys. As he did, he was suddenly overcome by an intensely humid heat. He glanced up into the clear night sky to get his bearings, but to his surprise, the many stars he had seen only a few moments ago were gone directly above him. Something else was blocking the view.
It took a moment for his eyes to adjust to a large, oval object which was hovering about 30 feet above him. As he slowly moved away from the frightening sight, he shined his flashlight toward the object. He could now make out the concave bottom of a smooth, round craft with a dome on top.
He continued to slowly move back from the object until he heard a sound which froze him in his tracks. The sound he heard was a large metal door closing. He now found himself surrounded by a red mist. He then lost consciousness.
The three boys, Bobby Ruffing, Chuck Stevens, and David Rowan could see their role model surround by what they could best describe as a “big red ball of fire.” Frightened, they left the car, and ran as fast as they could down the road to a house. Finding a farmer, they told him what they had seen. The farmer quickly called the State Police who soon arrived at the scene. Deputy sheriff Mott Partin picked the boys up and drove back to the car.
As they arrived, they saw DesVergers racing from the wooded area. Partin said that DesVergers was more scared than anyone he had ever seen.
The other officers who accompanied Partin ran into the area vacated by the frightened Scoutmaster, finding one of his flashlights still burning. They also noticed that the grass was flattened near the flashlight. The master’s second flashlight would never be found.
Arriving at Police headquarters, the officers noticed that DesVergers’ hands, arms, face, and cap were all burned. Although the officers were doubtful of the red mist account, they believed the rest of the Scoutmaster’s account enough to call the Air Force.
Edward J Ruppelt was heading the Air Force’s Project Bluebook at the time, and was impressed enough to take an investigative group to Florida to question DesVerges. He was accompanied by Second Lietenant Robert M. Olsson, and two captains, Hoey and Davis. Ruppelt would interview DesVergers several times, and remarked that the Scoutmaster remembered details very well, and did not respond in a rehearsed manner.
He felt that DesVergers was telling the truth.
An Air Force surgeon did an examination on DesVergers and determined that his wounds were indicative of mild sunburn. There were singed hairs, burns on his face and arms, and also his nostrils showed signs of being burned by a “flash heat source.” At the scene of the event, Ruppelt could find nothing to invalidate the Scoutmaster’s account.
Although there were no apparent signs of scorched earth or grass, later it was revealed after tests at Dayton, Ohio that the roots of the samples of grass taken at the scene were charred. Also, DesVergers’ cap showed signs of being damaged by “sparks of some kind.”
The three boys confirmed that the cap had not been burned earlier in the day. After interviewing the three boys, Ruppelt was convinced that they too were being truthful. DesVergers’ story stands today as a documented physical trace account of a UFO encounter. NOTE: The above image is CGI.
There have been many reports of falls of angel hair around the world. The most reported incidence occurred in Oloron, France, in 1952.
Many witnesses reported seeing over 30 red, spherical UFOs flying overhead, along with what local school superintendent Jean-Yves Prigent described as “a narrow cylinder, apparently inclined at a 45-degree angle… slowly moving in a straight line toward the southwest…
A sort of plume of white smoke was escaping from its upper end.”
From these craft came a white, hairlike substance, which covered telephone wires, tree branches and the roofs.
When people rolled the hairs into into a ball, it turned into a gelatinous substance and vanished. One man claimed to have been trapped by the material. On freeing himself, it rose back into air.
Ten days later, these events were repeated in Gaillac, also in France.
More Angel Hair Occurrences
On October 27, 1954, Gennaro Lucetti and Pietro Lastrucci stood on the balcony of a hotel in St. Mark’s Square in Venice and saw two “shining spindles” flying across the sky leaving a trail of the angel hair.
In the Portuguese city of Évora in November 2, 1959, two disc-shaped objects were seen over the town, and angel hair was collected and analyzed by microscope by a local school director, and later by armed forces technicians and scientists of the University of Lisbon.
Conclusions were not possible although it was formed, apparently, by a small organism featuring 10 ‘arms’ stretching from a central core.
It was advanced that it could be a single-celled organism of some kind.
A fall of angel hair in Florida in 1957 was witnessed by Craig Philips (later director of America’s national aquarium), who collected samples. however, these disappeared before he could reach a laboratory.
On February 10, 1978, a large number of fibers fell from the sky for a period of two hours near Samaru, New Zealand.
